Here is a genre that i have come across online, w/ interesting looking designs. Surely inventive concepts! Frankenstein to the art knife.
Enjoy,

I love things that are intricate things like this. And when they work like the second knife does, even cooler. Closet to knives like this that you could really use, that I know of anyway, would be like Grant and Gavin's knives. The M.U.D.D. or the Beetle. Thanks for the pics/links.

I really dig the steampunk look, the second one I like as it is a part of the way it works is what gives it that great look. I wonder what a steampunk bowie would look like.

While it's not something I would buy, I kinda like these "steampunk" folders. The Van Barnett piece is my favorite!

Kind regards,

Jos

It looks like the second folder would have to be "actioned" out (ratcheted? levered? clicked? I dunno lol)? useless in a hurry but heck of a convo starter.

The opening bezel on "time machine" is also very cool

and yes plz to the SP bowie .

I have no idea why..........but I like those

I love mechanicals like these but they need to function......apparently these do. Awesome!!
The 3rd one is gorgeous.
I like the way he used bits and pieces from watches and guns to hardware store items. An unusual art form and I'd love to run into some at a show.

Wow, that Stefan Steigerwald piece is extremely cool. Impressive! I like the look applied to knives, hadn't thought of it before.

@ 2knife, it would have been nice if you asked before you use those pics of Stefan's Steampunk folders, anyway, here are both of them.

these knives are not just trimmed to look like Steampunk, the mechanics are actually working, check out the pics and 2 videos to see them.

Steampunk Folder #1

It's more or less a backlock with built in safety levers, see the video. not really a fast opener but really fun.

Steampunk Folder #2

more complex, the iris diaphragm is opened when blade is closed and closes when blade is opened. below is a see through "biohazard" symbol with an inlayed tritium vial below.
comes with a belt buckle too, that's the blue thing. :D

Thank you Blademan, and sorry - i should have asked, from all concerned. Great knife!
I did get to see the Van Barnett knife in person, it is amazing, the wheels turn as well.

WOW!!! The ingenuity displayed is MIND BLOWING!!

I have seen "Steampunk" applied to collectibles and furniture, but these are the first knives of that genre that I have seen.

FANTASTIC...thanks for posting them.

Those are all insane and beyond cool looking. I would hate to see what one of those cost, there is a lot of thought and design in all of them.

I actually really like the idea of an expanding handle like that. Sounds like a cool feature if you're gonna make a folding knife with a really oversized blade compared to the handle.

Those Stefan Steigerwalds are as cool as it gets. I love the "snick" of the safety lock!
