Not another "what's your favorite steel" or a "which steel is best" thread but..

What steel do you currently have the most of?

I currently have and have had more S35VN than any other steel.

I've got a variety of steels, but I've got more knives in S35VN than any other steel. At the he end of the day, they all get dull if you use them.

Very true. I used to snob on steels back in the day until I got my KME sharpener and I re-profile with ease.

It just seems that a lot of makers are using s35vn more than any other steels these days.

I, now, have more 1095 than others. If this thread would have cropped up a week ago, my answer would have been M4.

I'm thinking about getting some more M4 in my future. I love the steel but the knives around them haven't been exactly up to par, minus a couple

I've been an O1 fan for almost a decade. I find that I can get this steel sharp easier than any other. I've got a couple in this steel, but I'm also a man of few knives...so...

S35VN is my most common steel. S35VN is quickly becoming the new S30V. Way too much of it being used by everybody! Wish I had more M390. I love sharpening and using it!

As far as what I have the most that would be what ever is in SAKs, I forget what that is . . . decent stainless. Then next the SS in my Cases . . . perhaps a touch better than the SAKs but a toss up.

As far as what I want them ALL TO BE : M4
I was EDCing my newest S110V today and from what I just experienced while examining the condition of the edge after one very mild day of use . . . alas . . . I wish it were M4 instead.

Most common among my near 40 folders is S30V, because the knives I wanted happen to be in that steel, and I'm happy enough with it.
Do prefer Elmax though, among others.

As a knife maker, I prefer M390 and Elmax but they are both hard to find in the sizes I use and are relatively expensive. I use mostly S35VN because it is easy to get and makes a decent blade. I am considering Nitro V for my kitchen cutlery.

Take a look at the Spyderco Mantra for a capable but lighter carry, or a Mantra 2 for an even slimmer package. The Mantra line is one of Spydercos hidden gems that gets overlooked way too much.

For a more workaday model, look at the Gayle Bradley 1.

For a capable work knife, but designed as a high quality EDC that can dress and play equally hard, look at the:
- Benchmade 908BK-1501
- Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2

Most likely 1095HC. Maybe Aus-8A. I own alot of 8CR13MOV. I am starting to realize the benefits of "higher end steels" since getting a CS Recon 1 in carpenter steel. My knife spending has been changing lately.
I've enjoyed using knives since I was 10 or so (I'm 31). Cheap Wal-Mart bud k knives were the greatest thing ever. Then I up to Gerber (barely an up grade, non USA) I thought they were epic. Then CRKT and Kershaw (25$ price range from Wal-Mart). I would dream of paying over 40$ for a knife because they all cut stuff. Next stop I but a Cold Steel recon1 XL in Aus-8A used on Craigslist for 20 bucks. I now own 4 different model Recons. I know own a few knives between 100$-140$. Who knows what's next. In the end I own tons of 'CR13MOVS....

I have several in S30V. But it hasn't been on purpose. Just worked out that way.
Now if I look at the B-team, most are made of whothehellknows?
