Recommendation? Steel Suggestion

Some of the Gerbers are for sure. The Legend below for example:

full

there's been many MTs with replaceable wire-cutters, but none of them (because of their Multitool nature) are ture hard use wire cutting tools. They were:

- Gerber MP600
- Gerber MP800 Legend
- Gerber MP700
- Gerber Strata
- LM Rebar
- LM Surge (post 2013)
- LM ST300
- LM OHT

of those my favorite was the MP800, featuring triangular hard-wire carbide cutters. All Leatherman feature two-sided cutters (straight), and all Gerbers (except the Strata) feature the infamous triangular cutters, which tend to perform worse than LM's version.
Leatherman's wire cutters are made of 154CM steel, unlike Gerber's.

You missed the point.

I was just referring to GermanyC's post where he said Gerber Multitools didn't have replaceable cutters. At least I think that's what he said in his own way. Some do in fact.
That's all. Nothing else inferred.

And FWIW, I still would recommend any tool that has a designed wirecutter over using any knife for that purpose, no matter the steel.
And given a choice, an actual pair of diagonal wire cutting pliers (dikes) would be best over any multi tool for most any wire.
But we've strayed from the subject...

here's a benchmade 940 tip. notice how thick it is at the edge? that's what you are probably looking for. I still wouldn't pry but that is what you need in a steel that's optimized for strength/toughness over edge retention.
