Steigerwald "steampunk" folder.

Cool design, but a logistical nightmare. Literally the most impractical design I have ever seen. Handle is like 2" thick, but is nothing but squared off and seems awfully weak too. Cooler than hell, though.

As if the misses didn't think I "fiddled" with my knives enough as it is...

I want one.

Wait a second! I just realized something, with all of those interlocking parts, that must be essentially a fixed folding knife, right?

;)

People making negative posts regarding it's status as a viable EDC need to take their criticism to a thread where it is valid.

No, people can post their opinions in this thread, just as they do with any other knife thread.
We all realize it isn't meant for EDC.

If one were into mechanical movements this is a very cool knife, that's for sure.

I am dumfounded by the posts regarding ergos etc in this thread. This an art knife. It is VERY WELL done. Commenting on the ergos, or practicality of this particular knife, makes about as much sense as commenting on the trunk space, or fuel economy of a Corvette. Are you guys serious? How about we go and comment on a slip joint traditional about it not having a full tang, or jimping?

If there is a warranty, would it cover disassembly for cleaning? I am quite certain I would have better luck putting that back together with broken thumbs...

From and art and engineering standpoint, it is quite a knife. As i watched the video I could not help but to think that it needed a nail nick or some other such device to assist in opening.

Missed this post first time around - was linked here from another thread....but had to post anyway...

Impressive mechanical action, and it does fit the steampunk scheme very well - the drawbar and "locomotive wheel" look is nice, and I like the way the aperature closes over the watch when the blade opens.

This one took a lot of thinking to get it done right.

Thanks for posting the link

After watching that knife being opened again and again, I got this visual of the giant blood blister from being squeezed in the handle as it shortened up...

He's an awesome knifemaker (and does a mean heat treat too, he HT's all my stainless blades for me.) wish his shop was a little closer. But 7 hours driving is a bit much for a quick visit.
