Stellite/Talonite/Cobalt 6 Airport Security Test

bald1 from another--thank you. I have no argument with operational theory and design capacities of security instruments. The only reason I started the thread was because I had heard nothing BUT theory--and the theory offered to date had been contradictory. Also to date, I haven't heard experience contradictory to mine or CJ's, and I really would like to hear about anyone who has set off a security gate detector with Cobalt 6 alloy. I'm claiming nothing, just offering data. Certainly, I accept that my experience could be anomalous.

I have a friend who works for a company that designs all kinds of detectors. He said that the next generation - which is already on the market - could detect ANY irregularity on a person - even a plastic bag filled with water. LET ALONE ANY AND ALL THE KNIVES WE LIKE AND CARRY. That includes ceramic, carbon fiber, plastic, Titanium - you name it. These are very expensive devices so don't expect to find them anywhere - but if you ever do - well, this will not be a pretty sight, and I have to agree with all those who tried to talk you out of doing this.

DON'T mess with airport Security - especially when you are away from home (i.e. Europe and mainly Britain)

I am a lawyer and I fly allot - and I never try to mess with these guys - their sense of humor is very limited...

Had to chuckle when you stated that you're a lawyer who flies "allot." It's "a lot," not "allot." Signed, a retired dental surgeon who is a Ph.D. candidate in English literature with an obsessive approach to those who misuse the language I've learned so hard to master. If I can do it, then everybody has to do it! (Chuckle, please; it's a joke!)

Yo, Baldy, York haa a point, just because you can't use it in ordenance disposal, doesn't mean that it cannot get snuch across the airport check. There is only one real way to find out.

Tell you what, I will try to take one of my stellite fixed blades and run it through on my person, hidden to see if it sets off alarms. You guys may have to bail me out! hehe

Cobalt, why not try a large billet of Stellite first. Not to threating if they do find it.
