as long as it isn't rough or unreasonably difficult, i wouldn't worry.

my large reg is also way smoother than my insigno, though my insigno is pretty smooth.

Yes to all. I think I was the detent track that helped.

I will not sell this knife (it's a keeper for sure) and it is my main carry, though I give others their small share in the lineup. So I am sure it will age well. Thanks everyone for the help.
