http://www.nrapublications.org/oj/nobullets.html How many of you are planning on stock piling ammunition in the event that the new bill kicks into place? I am already in the process of purchasing a Mini14 and probably an AR cause the prices of these guns are surely going to go sky high after Obama reanacts the Assualt Gun Ban. I hate Fu$$$ people that tamper with my rights!

That's been talked about for some time.......I couldn't ever see it happening.....we'd have a civil war in the States if it did. It still sucks to think about it...........

Its kind of late to be stockpiling ammo....I wish I had more. I know I have seen prices go up at least 5 to 10 cents a round for certain calibers that I shoot and this is just because metal prices and the economy. Not to start a rumor mill but I have heard talk of a tax on ammo in the ballpark of 500%. If this is true it will mean that I will see the range a lot less.

Be careful, the last thread discussing this got locked, and the mods were not happy about this being the WSS instead of the political arena.

I wish I would have bought 4 cases of 7.62X39 when it was 10 cents a round and 2 more cases of 9X18 when Brown Bear was 90 a thousand.

Not so worried about the bill, will probably never make it to a vote but I'm all for quantity discount:thumbup:

Chewy is right. Keep it related and not political. There's a little place on another forum for those discussions.

Invest in some reloading equipment and components. Maybe some machine tools. I haven't seen/heard any specifics about this ammo tax, but perhaps ammunition components will be exempt and only assembled ammunition will be subject. The bottom line is we don't know what is going to happen

Yea, I need to look into reloading equipment. My grandfather left me a bunch of stuff but I haven't had the chance to go through it. With the prices going up it will prolly become more economically feasible.

Definitely cheaper to reload.
I can't believe how all ammo has gone up.......
$15 for a brick of .22?
$10 for 20 rounds of .223?
$15 for 50 rnds of .45
And these are just averages.......jeesh!!!! :grumpy:

Several months back I bought several hundred rounds of .223 from Cabelas. Shipped right away. Now I order a several hundred rounds of 9mm, and back ordered. I guess the rush is on.

you think thats alot, i live in hawaii and the price is freakin double. try adding 10 dollars more to each of those prices.

The time to stock up was a few years ago. Prices really jumped back then and the old Soviet surplus rounds began to dry up, lead and copper/brass prices went through the roof. With the economy slowing down and global demand for raw materials lets up, prices may ease a bit.

It might also be pointed out that the NRA is mostly in the business of self preservation. There's a tendency to play up any potential threat regardless of the seriousness. The current run on guns and ammo seems to be largely fueled by current concerned gun owners. It will stabilize when folks get acclimatized to the new administration, or when the New World Order takes over and sends us all to the gulag.

Copper has fallen from a high of $4.00 a pound to $1.50 a pound. Ammo prices will probably fall.

I think it will take a whole for ammo prices to fall. That being said, it is wise to keep a decent supply if you shoot regularly. I make sure to keep enough of the basics which for me is the following: 2K of .40, 3K 7.62, 3k .223. It help weather the storm at times like these.

Ammo prices will not fall much, copper down ammo demand high..... I went to Dick's sporting goods and snagged 300 rnds of 223 all they had on the shelf and 200 rounds of 9mm and 200 rounds of 357..... few hundred of 22LR as well..... the guy told me 223 & 7.62x39 sales quickly... 45acp was a big seller as well

"Not too concerned. You should already have what you need."

The price has been going up for a while so I started laying a stock away last summer.

I have been a avid reloader since the early 70's. I am sure any new tax will include components.
