Stockman Sunday picture show

When I was a bit younger, I was working a retail job where I helped customers set up their equipment and handled a lot of shipping / warehouse duties. I had a cheap gas station knife that was nearing the end of its life due to the undue abuse I put it through. I really didn't treat that knife well 😆 I had asked for a new knife for christmas two years in a row and finally received one from my now mother in law. It was a very nice Buck 110. This was before I was collecting and the only other nice knife I had was the case peanut my grandfather bought me when I was little. I felt the knife was too nice to use at work and so I put it away for safekeeping. Well, it turned out not to be safe enough as it ended up getting stolen. Now that I'm collecting again, I always wished I could have that knife back as it had so much sentimental value attached to it being one of the first gifts I received from my mother in law.

Anyway, I had been bugging my wife for a little while, asking her to let her mother know I'd like to have another buck knife. It would be one I would hold onto forever and make sure this time it does not end up in the wrong hands! I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this Buck 371 for christmas this year. My wife and mother in law had no idea my favorite pattern was a stockman. And, I had also been eyeing the 3 spring buck stockmans for quite a while. You'd think they read my mind!

I am fairly happy with the fit and finish on this knife. The pulls are a little weak, but not much worse than my lone rough ryder stockman. And, the springs aren't flush in the closed position which is a little bit more annoying with 3 springs instead of 2. They are, however, surprisingly flush in the open position. Bolster transitions are smooth, pins and shield are flush. No blade play. It is made in china, but I've read some reviews that state it's made as well if not better than the USA made equivalent.

All in all, it is a knife that means a lot to me. And, it is one that has already seen a significant amount of pocket time. I certainly won't be afraid to put this one to use!

That’s a beautiful Buck knife. Sorry to hear about your last one from her but it looks like this one will be a treasure. 👍

I have at least one knife given to me from almost all the important people in my life. I’m working on completing the set.

I know it's diamond wood, but I think it looks nice with the brass bolsters too! And, completing that set is on my to-do list as well 😅 Probably more than half way there now! Thanks for the kind words!
