Stockman Sunday picture show

The Big Four

Forgive the crappy pic but I wanted to post this one today.
Kershaw Iredale - had it for a few days and it has impressed me more than I expected. The only nit picks I could find are a very small spring gap, a slightly raised center pin on one side and the alphabet soup 7 something steel. Although i have to say it came very sharp and was hair shaving with just a few passes on the fine stone and a little stropping.
3 5/8" closed.
Would be nice if they made a 14c28n version.

Do you have any further impressions with more use? I’m tempted by one of these just for fun

Was out mowing the lawn today and took this picture. Beautiful day!

Yesterday, I was stropping the main blade and felt some noticable wobble. Checked the other blades and they had some play too. Been carrying this almost everyday since March. So, can only guess it loosened with use.

Squeezed both pivots in a vise, but not so tight it messed with the action. Peened the pins with my grandpa's small ball peen hammer and his railroad tie. Wet sanded every bolster flush with 2000 grit sandpaper. And, polished each bolster with white rouge. I feel I was able to get something pretty close to the original mirror finish from before I started working on it.

Pins are showing more now. But, posted about it in the maintenance section and got some good advice for next time. Won't do anymore this go around as showing pins doesn't bother me.

Still waiting for a CASE 18 Stockman to arrive from America, last heard of at JFK airport 8th August....but I'm confident the wait will be worth it! Then got to let Customs have their 25% take, followed by Posti behaving like an exhumed Sloth 🦥 in delivering it:D:eek:

Never mind all the whining though, I use a Stockman nearly everyday now mated to a single blade- found this to be my métier anyway. Here a Queen Cutlery No.26 in WCSB- snappy, alert and very useful knife.

That No.26 in WCSB and D2 is about the only stockman you would ever need. What a great knife Will. 👍👍👍
