Any of them outgassing or showing any signs of decomposition? I was tempted to pick some up when they came out but never pulled the trigger.
The scales show some shrinking but not outgassing.

I have a Bulldog Abalone (celluloid) trapper that started to outgas a few years ago.

At first, I tried to preserve it, but realized you can't stop it and so I've been watching it self-destruct.
The steel parts of the knife are rusted and the nickel bolters/shield pitted.

When I retire, I'll try to restore it.

You should pop the covers off to stop the distruction. 🤔

Love your Stag(?) Bone Stag(?) Case, and the venerable 858.
Your 858 might be an early production (1978 to 1980) like mine is.
From what I've been told over on the Schrade Collector's sub forum, the early knives don't have the "OT" in the tang stamp.
Imperial-Schrade (US) only produced the 858 for six years, from 1978 to 1984.

I don't know why Schrade (US) gave it such a short run.
After the bankruptcy in 2007, Taylor - Schrade brought the 858OT back.
After Taylor sold to BTI in 2017, BTI - Schrade is still producing it - in two variations no less!
The standard 858OT with Delrin covers and "440A" equivalent 7CR17MoV blades, and an upgraded 858OTB with genuine bone covers and "440C" equivalent 9CR18MoV blades.
The offshore versions are the same size and weight (with Delrin covers) as the vintage US made knife.

(I have an early US made. and both offshore versions.)
