Stockmen

"You're right edbeau, it was a folding hunter. Don't know what I was thinking, lol. "

Hello DR Penguin, was it black or Ivory colored? I just got in an Ivory folding hunter with original sheath I am working on. Very tough solid knife.

That's it, to a T.

I still remember dad sharpening that thing on his little whetstone and processing his deer with it when I was just a pup. Yours looks in great shape with a lot of steel left in it. If it is anything like Pop says it should be a great user knife if you hunt. Thanks for posting caseknife64, I appreciate it buddy.

Another fan of the stockman, carbon and stainless. Own them in GEC, Camillus, Old Timer, Uncle Henry, Case, Boker, Queen & Buck.

Since the weather turned wet, I've been carrying a Black Buck 301 the last couple of weeks. What I like about these is, they hold a good edge, sharpen fast when needed and they seem to thrive working outside in the dirt and water. Talk about your low maintenance knife. I think the one I edc could be left in the creek overnight, dried off the next morning and used the rest of the week without a drop of oil. It is the leased picky about how you care for it, of all the stockmans I own and use.

That's exactly how I use my 301, Nickels. It's my foul weather stockman and is in my pocket as we speak since it's been "batten down the hatches" around here of late.

I've been known to own and carry a stockman or two... ;)
