Stolen Bag Giveaway!

i gave the secretary in my office a handful of quarters out of my vehicles console this morning so she could get something to eat from the vending machine, as she had forgotten her breakfast (and is diabetic!).

Everytime my bro gets sent to the desert, I send a sharp tool with him to serve him well (and maybe feel some comfort of having a little piece of family with him). So far Becker BK7, Emerson Commander, Spyderco Manix. Thank God they've all seen a safe return stateside...

Not about knives, but...
Last Christmas, my wife and I bought $30 or $40 worth of presents for toys for tots. Shortly after we dropped them off, we got a letter from church saying we had won a calendar raffle...$75. I had been eyeing an Izula, but we decided to go buy $75 worth of diapers and wipes for the local domestic violence shelter.

Although I don't like to brag, I don't mind telling this story, because I think the first good deed caused the second one to happen. Call it luck, karma, good juju, whatever:)

i have the same knife and it kicks ass.. solid as a rock and sharp. love my knife.. question for ya, ever wear it in salt water?

Yep. This knife has been in the ocean twice. I washed it real good when i got out and I can't tell it was ever in salt water.

I hope you guys understand that you shouldn't feel bad for telling a story of giving for this drawing. You're not winning based on what you did. You did your good deed long before this drawing and it has no bearing on whether or not you get the knife, so don't feel like you're parading kindness for a return. All I wanted was for everyone in here to see what good people all of you are.

I know how some of you feel when it comes to whether giving is truely selfless or not. Nothing makes me feel better than to do something for someone that makes them happy, puts them in a better position, or even turns their life around. To me, that's the greatest feeling in the world. So, when I do something nice for someone else, I'm really doing it because it makes me feel better than anything I could do for myself. You might even say that to do things for other people is actually a selfish act to make yourself feel good.

I guess the most noteworthy ones were:

I gave my old ALICE pack to a hobo girl a few months ago who was walking around with a torn up book bag as her only pack. Offered me something in return, but that would be taking advantage.

Last year I gave a kid from church who couldn't afford a decent knife, an orange/OD RC 4.

I'm with you 100 per cent! My greatest reward is seeing how I can help others or do something that will make them happy, even if it's just for a little while. I didn't grow up in a rich family but now that I'm comfortable with my means, I feel that if I can give to others, if even juuuuust a little bit, then hopefully they won't have to go through what we went through. :)

I guess the "biggest" thing I have givin to some one was $3,700. It was a buddy of mine that was going to lose his house. I say I gave it to him because I knew I would never see it again. I guess I give stuff away all the time. I am not too well off but there are plenty of people that have less than I do. Gifting things is more rewarding than keeping something you don't need/use especially if the people are truly gratefull for your gift. Just thought I'd share. Don't count me in the contest.

Nice gesture man, thank you.

I recently gave away a brand new Maxpedition Spartan Wallet and 3 of my CRKT folders (2x BULL, Full-Throttle) to the head of the CSU Army ROTC program to give to graduating cadets. It's the least I could do for my alma mater. (I've given a dozen knives to knife-less buddies, but the ROTC thing was the best. Sgt is a real nice guy.)

Cool giveaway Dylan. I wish I was able to help also back then, but It seams you did allright.

I sent JWilliams a custom knife, and chipped in on fieldjacket for him when his stuff was stolen out of his truck.
I also sent a knife maker here on the forums a bunch of belts when someone drove through his shop. I try to do cool giveaways when I hit certain post counts and I recently gifted an Izula to to someone who went out of their way in helping me with my quest for knowledge in plant ID and use.

But what I have given in the past does not compare to the knowledge I get from these forums and friendships I have made. Plus I won a bunch of cool stuff here on the RAT forums as well :)

I withdraw myself from the giveaway, and just wanted to say thanks for reminding me of what great place we have here!

I once found a wallet with $1100.00 in it. turned it in to the police station, as he lived in a bad part of town. I didnt want to get jumped delivering it so my wife and I turned it in to the police station. I never heard wether he got it back though. I hope he did. Quite a few people told me I was crazy for turning it in. I couldn't live with my self if I did, what if it was money for food for his kids and rent money.

Aside from the few give-a-ways I've done on this forum I volunteer as frequently as I can. I enjoy giving back to the community when I can. I find myself getting much too caught up in worrying about work and my trivial problems and forget all about the people in this world that have to fight just to stay alive and keep their family alive. Volunteering in various places helps me ground myself.

Cool give-a-way my friend.

Take care.

I have given some knives and a fenix flashlight to 2 friends that didn't had any money to buy decent gear.
nowadays they became knife nuts and got out of debt, but they still remember how amazed they were by those sharp knives.
but in the end I already got more good things back at me, way more than I have done.

I have given a lot of people a hard time.:D
And more than a few the "shirt off of my back" (one time literaly). I recently gave my dad a Randall as he was "thinking about getting a new hunting knife". I'm a big fan of pay it forward......

The other day a guy came up and asked for money for gas. Some how it felt right to give it to him so I gave him a 20.00.
Gave a friend a Ka-bar when he was going to the Sand box.
What comes around goes around

I have given various hard to find parts for mostly Mitsubishi Monteros to other guys on 4x4wire. I have given a couple of Landcruiser parts away. I gave away a set of good tires and rims to another Montero guy who really needed new tires but had no money.

I like to help people out.

Ok. We're going to speed this thing up. Looks like we're done with the entries, so I'm going to go ahead and pick the winner as soon as my Junkyrad Dog II gets here to replace this knife in my pocket. Should be in the next day or two. If anyone else wants to get in on it, now is the time.

Hi Dylan,
I dont want to be entered but I can think of a few times where I have given something to folks. Lets see...
I once gave my boss a hard time! It felt good and it was entertaining when his face turned red.
I gave someone the "finger" once while in traffic because he was tailgating me while traveling 80 MPH with my family in the car.

While traveling to foreign contries, I have been a traffic cop and given them instructions to stop, or I will shoot...

Come to think of it, I am a big ole giver!
Thanks for making me feel better!
