Storage/Display Dilemma

Things are getting a bit out of control and unwieldily. I've got knives in safes, I've got knives in tubs, drawers, up on shelves, framed on the wall,in my truck, in my car.......they're freaking everywhere.

I photograph and keep records on all my knives, but if you asked me to go find it, I'd be hard pressed to come up with the location.

Does anybody have a good system to organize and display? (pics please)

I just had this Walnut Gerstner Tool Chest refinished for my folders.

Someone is bound to offer [we Hogs are 'givers' by and large] so let me be the first to say that I'm always happy to help a brother in need; I'll store some of that pork for you! :D

...in fact, perhaps you could help me; I 'need' to store some of that pork!

Welcome to my hell. :D:D:D

The best system I've seen yet is Skunk's. He has a walk in closet lined with built in cabinets for (some of?) his collection.
Too bad I can't find a pic of it now, and his PB album seems to be either gone or empty. :(
Did find a few threads on the same topic from years back while looking for that pic... Some of the threads have lost a lot of pic links, so try using the Wayback Machine to get a cached copy. I checked one of 'em with this and many more of the pix showed up.

Hope this helps. :)

There are some great ideas in those threads. Thanks for finding them Jaxx. Have you added on to your warehouse yet. LOL

I bought some stainless steel locking cabinets at the local Sams club a few years back. They have ones designed for wrenches that have perfect drawer depth fpr knives without a lot of wasted space.

I read though the three links.......great info:thumbup:
Seems like a common dilemma. I'll be interested in some of those hog's that were looking for solutions......what did they decide on?

Ahhh..... I see while I was reading though the links Jaxx posted, which you were contemplating various solutions. Did you dedicate a room to store the stainless steel locking cabinets?

Built a vault room to to keep them in along with some other toys.

That was my same exact solution. Works great!

I don't have nearly as many knives as you guys, but I have found myself wondering where to keep my knives. There is a nice variety of ideas here. Keep them coming.

I think a blueprint filing cabinet could be excellent for knives. You can even find some that have a fire rating.

We use one of those tall locking metal tool boxes, similar, I guess, to what Garth is talking about. It was a Home Depot/Lowes sale find and works nicely.
