Storage/Display Dilemma

Dang....I started going through a closet looking for knives and came out with a Colt Python and a Wildey I forgot I had:D

i like soft cases to keep most of them in. you can shove them in a bag, or drawer easily.

I am looking for a place that sells zippered nylon padded cases ....in bulk ...say 50-75 or so and I can mix and match sizes.
I would like to get most of my knives in my safes in the near future.

A once upon a time neighbor of ours came to me with a wood 6 drawer cabinet that he had no room for. In short I was sprinting for his garage before he even finished his sentence. :D

but

I'm still overflowing. :o He made the first one, but I bet the second will cost me.

and

The bird, parakeet, that resides on top of it revel's in poofing seed and feathers in an unattended partially open drawer. Needless to say EVERY drawer has seed and feathers, its like a friggin aviary! :p

i am in the process of designing a wall mounted display cabinet -focus on DISPLAY rather than storage

the first prototype is not finished - pics as soon as soon as possible

- about the size of a 50" flat screen

- sleek design but using massive oak panels

- one-piece anti glare security glass front

- dedicated, even led lighting

- innovative modular system for attaching various knives to the background

i did not incorporate fire-safety and theft prevention so far - would you guys consider these factors important?

Georgecatl,

Those are 2 great finds! If you need help cleaning, let me know. ;):D

Now that is a nice cabinet! Wow!

Alright, ya HOGs... Spill! Which one of you has that killer wall unit??? It's frickin' loaded with Busse's! :D:D

ETA: Makes me think of TonyG. I wonder...?

Not for display, but I don't think the Spyderco Spyderpac can be beaten for storage. It blows away any similar option I have tried or seen. I use the small version (18 pockets) because it fits in my storage space.

WoW....that is one sweet idea....I can also see a custom holder or two for actual display of the latest acquisitions right on top to admire before stashing them away......

don't spend too much initially on storage , some great ideas here but I also went the hardware store foam box route ...
