i know i don't have that many, yet i do NOT want to count and find out. i have an idea. oh my.

oh yeah, pix of gun safes, models, and interior methods :)

i'd worry about wire or string around my scabbards leaving marks...

oh, and for the hanging naked blades, how do you keep track of scabbard to knife? messing them up later down the road could be messy.

That why I use soft builders cotton, its very strong but doesnt leave marks even on leather .;)

If my IQ was such that I couldnt tell the differance for scabbards for these kukri. I wouldnt have ever managed to collect them in the first place.:D

How do you store your kukri? Pix please!

Jaiofspam,
This is the storage rack I built for my larger blades. This is not for display, since it is built over my gunsafe in my bedroom closet. Arms reach from my side of the bed.;) It is ugly, but it holds a lot of blades. More expensive ones in the safe with all but what is on me or secreted about the house.

BTW, on your question of how one keeps track of sheath/blade matches. I put a 3"X5" card through the belt loops or frog loops with all the info pertaining to the khuk that goes in it.One day I am thinking of attaching a small tag to khuk/knife with a matching one on the sheath. This way my lady could match them up for sale in case of my untimely demise. Sounds morbid, but it is something to plan for if they are stored apart from one another.:o

thank you archangel.... that is not ugly at all
its awesome and exactly what i was thinking about if closet storage was an option...
maybe i will clear out our junk closet and use it for khuks :D

thanks for the idea

WOW!!

Ok, NOW I really have collection envy:(

IN my defense I would like to point out that it was really COLD out when I looked at my collection...;) :D :o (shrinkage?)

The horizontal ones I rest on small brass picture hooks in the middle of the blade . I bend then to fit the blade exactly & another small pin that I then site to rest the kaudi onto to balance them firmly.

I like this method. I think that if I actually HAD the wallspace, I'd use this kind of idea. Currently, most of my blades are stashed away in drawers or throughout my bedroom closet or propped in by the bed. Strangely enough, it's one of my female friends who insists the collection ought to be on prominent display.

Thankyou to the Canadian kukri fans!;) :D

mmmm yep must admit it was a a woman friend who finaly got me to hang mine, before then they just covered evry available surface! :o

But she grew up in a country mansion with antique sword all over the walls.

Spiral's display gets the best looks, but I like the way Archangel has his ready to go at a moment's notice. I can just see in my mind the kukuris being passed into ready hands during a national emergency.

Go with God, and carry a khuk.

Its all good,

Mine just lift straight off as well though Munk, each one is less than a second in time, :D

There ready to go, with or without the scabbards.;)

Now, I'm just trying to imagine exactly the whole procedure... you've got the custom-bent brass hook in the center of the blade for support, and the pin for balance, I take it this would be above the handle somewhere to hold the khuk in place?

No Mr.Graves, I balance them by supporting in two places under the blade,

Heres an underneath angled shot to show the pin in the kaudi, {In straight on photo it doesnt show.} & the picture hook in blade center. So they just lift straight off.

Thanks for the extra post, Spiral! I'm wondering if this method can be adapted to non-khuks as well?

Sure, Its not far off how swords were hung on the walls in the old English mansions.

2 hooks bent to match blade profile might be better on some blades that are kaudi less though?

Aye, sounds workable... now if I could find an aesthetically appropriate space, I'd rush to the hardware store post haste and put a few specimens up. It's at times like this that I lament having a "cozy", i.e. small, apartment.
