Storing Collection - Tool Chest?

I grabbed this Gersterner International (China) chest about 5 years ago on sale for $399. I think they are way more now. It is a biggie at 24" tall.

I just don't find the idea of a tool chest being in my family room/ bar area to be that appealing
Something more like a piece of furniture interests me more.
But that's me.
How about a glass-top display/shadow box style coffee table? A friend uses one to display the shells he’s found scuba diving and it looks great.

I've eyed those and that's a pretty good idea.
I have a nice little 10 drawer chest of drawers that works pretty well. I just wish I had purchased 2 at the time.

.....a large display case with LED lights holds some cool stuff.
😊

Quick update:

I ended up buying the chest pictured in the original post (big sale). Im going to try polyethylene drawer liners based on research that says that material is inert and archive-safe unless someone knows something different. I ordered the liner material but haven't received it yet.

A few of my favorites in the "display" section on top. Still a work in progress.

I have a 5 drawer Craftsman top cabinet for my collection...I use rubber drawer liner and have noticed some light marks every now and then but they wipe right off. I keep all the knives with the clip side down just in case, but it is a great way to store your knives!

I found a used flat file storage cabinet on marketplace for cheap.
If you have the room they are a good way to go with plenty of space and shallow drawers.
Keep a eye on government auctions and the local buy and sell sites for good deals on them.

I love the idea of a Gerstner chest for storage, but I doubt my wife would be happy with one as part of the living room, or back room decor.
I wish I had youse guys storage problems.:) I only have a few Bucks, and they're all users, so I keep them handy in a wooden bowl that sits on top of the gun safe. Granted, some get used a whole lot more than others, but I still like all of them right there.

I have a few Barlows & stockmans that get used, and they're in a similar, but smaller bowl next to this one. I have a whole bunch of other traditionals, and most are kept in a Pelican case. The modern CRKs, Hinderers, Spydies, etc, are kept in one of the big Spyderco roll-up storage packs.

I second the gerstner. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it's completely stuffed full and I'm out of room. Arranged fixed blades in the top as efficiently as I could but the lid won't close.

Put most of my safe-queen 110 collection into 12 slot knife storage pouches to free up some room in the drawrs for my users.

Ultimately, a small gunsafe might be in the future.

I keep ones I frequently carry in a US General mini tool box. Bought a couple of them that fit side by side in a cabinet:

And keep backups in a spare closet in Flambeau Zerust tackle boxes which inhibit corrosion:

I’ll have to look for some cork now to line the tool boxes with.
