Storing Collection - Tool Chest?

For anyone considering this idea. Look for intermediate boxes. They don’t have the top that opens. So it can be built into a shefl or you can pile stuff on top.

Bottom boxes are nice too, if you have the space, but I dislike top boxes.

I have a top box, but only put seldom used items there. I thought about a middle box, but could not find one to fit in the limited space I had available.

Craftsman used to make a side box too. It was tall and skinny with no top. It fits in weird places. Lots of options.

The nice thing about using these for knives is they aren’t as heavy as tools. Ball bearings and heavy gauge steel aren’t as important.

Sometimes I like something a little different. The oak box has two lift out trays. One tray has one each of all the 500 series; the other tray one each all of the 700 series. Drawers in the zebrawood box will each handle about 25 of the 110s or 15 102s.

Those are really nice! Any details to share?
The oak box was made with some scraps I had lying around. The top is from two pieces of end grain that are book matched. I've attached a bad photo, but you can see the knife arrangement in the removable tray. The size is 4 1/2" W x 8 1/2" long x 3 1/2" H. The color on the photo is terrible but it shows arrangement of the knives.

I made the zebrawood box many years ago for my mother so she could store her calligraphy stuff. I thought the dark lines of the zebrawood went with the idea of calligraphy. I now use it for knives. The box is 13 1/2" D x 18 1/2" W x 7 1/2" H.

Thank you. Really nice work!

What Dale Eichberg did here is probably the ultimate custom toolbox toybox!

I like those.
Especially the drawer chest.
