Hello All,

Just got into this whole knives thing and picked up a Shallot a couple of days ago (very nice piece).

I plan on buying some more in the future and was wondering how everyone stores their knives.

I was googling and found this one

Right now I just lay the Shallot on my dresser or on top of the box after EDC'ing it.

TIA :)

I keep most in their original boxes and I have 14 MTM Case Gard pistol cases
that have a foam insert for different sizes of knives.
I'm currently working on a display for my wall here in the game room.
I would like to have every one of them on display. Something like James Todd
has done. It takes a lot of work though........and time. ;)

I have some stored in vacuum seal bags with desiccant. I open them every
4 months, re-oil the blades (damascus stuff) and change out the desiccant.
If you have knives with bone or wood handles, using desiccant may harm
them. Be careful. You must also change out desiccant because it can and
does re-release the moisture it soaks up.

The zippered knife pouch that tcc shows is what I started out with
and works very well.

I keep all my knives in a drawer lined with carpet liner (keeps them from sliding around and knocking into each other). I leave some in their original boxes, but with the top or sleeve removed so that I can see/access them easily.

Sears craftsman 8 drawer tool chest. Sits in my office, drawers are'nt very tall since they were meant to hold wrenches and ratchets, so the knives fit beutifully and I can fit a LOT of 'em in there. Got some textured rubber mats for the drawers so they don't slide around, and best of all, it's lockable to keep my small kids from getting into trouble:thumbup::thumbup:

Cheers,
Jon

My problem is how to store fixed blades.I keep them dry and out of sheath but frankly they're a bit dangerous in my wardrobe.Anybody use those magnet devices?

I've pretty much run out of room in a small 3-drawer chest that I use, plus some of the longer fixed-blades don't fit in the drawers...:(

I guess I'm just going to have to stop buying/collecting knives....:D

Yeah, right! ;)

That's a little too crazy for me ;)

plano1402li6.jpg

thats a #1402
and i got a #1404 for numeric cam, binocular, mp3 and fragile tricky things when i go outdoor trip!
;-)

^^ What store did you get it from?
Do you have trouble closing the lid and locking it with all your things in there?

bought it at Le Baron (hunting & outdoor gear) one store in Montréal and 3 others in Ontario http://www.lebaron.ca.

for the picture all knifes are out of sheath. the Sog one got the bigger sheath and the case close correctly. maybe check the other model #1404 the foam inside could easyly cut to fitt anything (easyly = no tools required) and it's more deep so you could put the knives sideways.
:-)

2bro, what type of oil do you use, if you don't mind sharing?

Superlube is my preferred choice. Never a problem with it either.
The grease style. Aerosol is good for rifle barrels and stocks.

Click on Catalog at the top for a .pdf of their products.
I've been using their product since the late 80's.
Quote from their cat "Does not run, drip, evaporate, or form gummy deposits and will not melt or separate."

For knives I use to eat with on a daily basis I use vegetable oil.

Awesome, thanks guys - I'll have to pick some of that up soon.

Good tip with the vegetable oil, too.

yep! vegetal oil for daily use knife taste better than gig-a-loo or wd-40 (ahhahah!!!)

Vegetable oil also turns rancid with time. The only thing my knives see is mineral oil, which is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic.
