• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

    Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

What is the origin of the sheepsfoot blade ? I always equated it to the old sailors bosun knives where folk lore as I understand it the masters of vessels broke to tips off to reduce knife fights however the sailor esp in those days needed a knife irrespectively

I think this is an "urban" legend, the Montpellier, an official French Navy knife is quite sharp! (borrowed picture)

Sheep / lambsfoot reminds me an old joke I heard at school:
a guy asks a butcher :
-do you have pork feets?
the butcher answers yes;
- You don't say! With these shoes noone would iimagine that!
OK

I'll show more details when I get it, there's an unique locking system at the head of the knife. It was designed/invented by Robert Beillonnet, whom you can compare to R Bose and the likes.

Thanks, Jack- I'm toying with the idea of painting that metal handle, but I doubt I'll ever get round to it.

Thanks LR! I bought the knife online with just a stock picture to look at, so I was a little nervous about the blue. But once it arrived, I was very happy indeed. Great F&F, only complaint is the slightly rounded/blunt tip.

Just thought I'd revive this thread with a few pics :)
