Straight handled Satin Jack vs. non Straight?

In my opinion, there's too much material on the SJTac blade, I like the narrow SJ better.

I've owned both SJ and SJTac and sold the Tac (it was snakeskin too!!!) cause I just felt it wasn't right.

I'd never sell any of my Satin Jacks though.

+1 for SJ.

Honestly, I spent a lot of time and money hunting down an ABA and turning it into an LE with a satin finish and snake slabs, and I didn't really feel it. I tried and tried to like the damned thing, but ultimately my SHBA feels MUCH better in hand than the Gen III handles did. Oh well...to each his own.

MAN Lee has a lot of BP/Satin!

Bring back the SHBA! :foot:

I almost caught that until I realized it would probably put me in the hospital with no way to pay the bill:D

To go against the rules and throw a wrench in this discussion:

Take a look at the 6" PBF. It's very similar to the straight handled Satin Jack, but better. It's the same length, and the same from edge to spine. If you lay one on top of the other, it's clear that they have a very similar outline, as though they started from the same blanks, share the same lineage, and are related. However, the 6" PBF has a more acute edge angle (at least, with the factory edges), is pointier, is beefier, has a more secure grip, more effective guards, and is faster and better balanced in hand. It's a better design.

You are a smart man. It doesn't help that Jerry and the gang keep making new knives in satin/bp, even LE's now. :D

Oh ISHT!!! I had no idea Lee had let so many of those go! You ARE a hog, Oeser! Congrats to you on still being married. :D

He didn't let any go, I think we have been pulling in the same blades at the same time. Actually I take that back, the #7 Mofos were once in his collection.:D

The trick to staying married is buy knives that are all the same color. She can't tell the difference between a NMSFNO or NMFBM if she only sees one at a time.;)

yeah, but thats cause you didnt use it:p

and if you did..........you werent doing it right;):D

i dual carried my modified NICK (3rd gen handles, similar profile to the sj) and a sjle for a year+ and did the same dual carry with a sjtac and a sjtacle. the tac handle win hands down - the index finger portion of the 3rd gen handles is way to small.

I would say that it's closer to the sjle if you dropped the grind down to a half saber and made the doubled the thickness right behind the edge. I would not suggest any of the pbf's for someone who wanted to use them as knives. If your looking for a splitting tool or a prybar they are excellent, otherwise your going to have to do some significant regrinding to make them useful as knives.

It was definitely the MO's the made me think of Lee.

As for keeping the wife in the dark--mine is WAYYY to slick for that. She sees 'em befoe I can even get them in the safe. I think she's a Jedi.

Get a PO Box, problem solved.

Seriously though, she has her hobbies and I have mine. A little give and take on both sides and some "don't ask don't tell.;)

Ok,for all of you nay sayers that have a SJ, and prefer the SJTAC, I will trade you a SJTAC for your SJ and I dont even care if yours has been used:)

Smoking pics Oeser:eek::cool:
