Stranded in the wilderness with one knife what would it be

I would say any quality full tang fixed blade , production or custom , would cut the mustard with flying colors. Of the knives I own it would certainly be my CGASH1 , Bessy, she is one mean girl.

I always assumed I would have TWO knives with me. One is really tough. Years ago it would be a Randal #16 Special Fighter. Now I think I would probably grab my Dozier Wilderness knife as my all around knife. Even if caught off guard, I'd probably have a SAK in my pocket.

Of the blades I currently own, I would have to say my Busse CG ASH 1 (although, my Fallkniven F1 would be somewhere on my person as well...:)

As far as a one knife scenario, I'm liking the looks and quality of a Fallkniven A1 more and more...

I have one of those. I'd like to start a thread with a question about it. I don't have enough post yet, so I chimed in here. Sorry.

I guess the toughest knife I own and would LIKE to have with me would be my Ontario TAK. Its built like a tank.

If you had to be stranded in the canadian north, amazon, and desert which knife would you choose to be stranded with and why?

Canadian north - BK-9 - Good chopper, tough enough to handle a lot of wood.

Amazon - ESEE Lite Machete - good for slashing the overgrown jungle & can be used for chopping & batoning.

Desert - BK-2 or BK-7 - less weight than the BK-9 and strong enough to cover whatever tasks are likely.

I'd also like to have my Victorinox Ranger in my pocket in all 3 situations.

Either my Entrek Elk with its custom made pancake sheath or my old Effingham made BK&T Brute combined with my old Sears Craftsman pocket tool...My Ontario 12" machete might also work...Then there is the Ontario Marine Raider Bowie or the Michael Wise Bowie or my CS Carbon V SRK...or...Of course I would like to have my Marlin 1895 .45/70 with a variety of my handloads on my ammo belt with the Ruger .45 Blackhawk attached...

Please tell us more about the Entrek Elk, what is it like as an all purpose knife?

Questions like this always make me think of the movie, The Edge. An interesting scenario to find yourself in.

Just a caveat, a knife wouldnt be the first item on my list of 'must have' items, and I would quite frankly rather have a small hatchet like a Gransfors SFA, than a knife but if I HAD to choose one..... Busse BATAC.

Reason being is I have two excellent sheaths for it, both of which are very comfortable. I feel it is the ideal size to carry easily, will perform very adequately for most tasks and is not too heavy/cumbersome.

Stranded in the wilderness with one knife what would it be
So this has probably been done 100 times but I was thinking about it today. If you had to be stranded in the canadian north, amazon, and desert which knife would you choose to be stranded with and why?.

It's been done more than a hundred times.

Well, tonight I have a Great Eastern Dogleg jack in my pocket. So if I get stranded in the desert tonight, that's what I will have.

Really, how many times do you get to CHOOSE what you will have on you when you get stranded?

North - Ontario MK3 USN Knife
Jungle - Ontario MK3 USN Knife
Desert - CRKT Special Operations Tactical Fixed Blade (SOTFB)

First off I never go on a trip with just 1 knife, certainly not one in country side where things can go horribly wrong really fast.

So to answer the question at hand...

In my pocket, either a ZT 0500, an XM-18 or my SMF; either on my belt or in my pack my BRKT Bravo 1.

Guess today I'd pick my SAK Farmer.
Why?
1. B'cuz my Cadet don't have a saw or punch.
2. Less likely to injure myself beyond repair than
w/a 'best survival knife ever' type fixed blade.
3. Have something nice to trade for water & food.
