Stretch?

So I usually carry a Delica, but I have seen some pics of the Stretch and have wondered if I would like it. It seems a little bigger, but not too big (I find the endura too big). How do you guys like the Stretch and is it worth it if I already have the delica?

The stretch was my first spyderco and one of my first good knives (I lost it years ago when I was working at the zoo and sprinting across the grounds responding to a loose animal). Its a great knife, great ergos and the blade shape is jut awesome looking, I much prefer it over the endura.

Now that I've gotten more into knives I've picked up a delica and liked it so much for EDC I haven't [yet] got another stretch, its on my list but its far from the next thing I'm gonna buy, if you think you'll like it more than your delica go for it, its definitely a great knife and I know tons of people here love theirs.

Definitely worth it, IMHO. The Stretch packs half an inch more blade into a handle just barely over an eighth of an inch longer. Plus, it has excellent ergonomics, and is a great slicer.

I just bought my first VG-10 Stretch about a week ago and have been carrying it since. Like others said above, it has great ergos and packs a lot of blade into the handle. I've already pre-ordered the SB version. Good knife.

A few months ago I was asking the same question and a couple pics from The Deacon (similar to the one here) convinced me to get the Stretch.
So glad I did! The ergos are amazing and is the perfect size for EDC!
If you are on the edge trust me, you won't be sorry!

I'm thinking of changing the Stretch pattern. Make a deper finger choil like the Caly and straighten the spine line the Endura. Thoughts?

Sal, the Stretch is what I consider "my favorite folder" and I echo that sentiment on the boards all the time- so obviously I love it as is but I'm not up tight about seeing it CQI'd. A deeper finger choil wouldn't hurt it and plenty of feedback in the past has suggested this. Same goes for the straight spine, hey why not... Only one way to find out for sure, how about a run? :) . What I love about the blade is the very thin grind, the added strength at the tip of the Stretch is nice but I understand that a straighter spine will win more fans over as aesthetics seems to be the only thing some folks take issue with.

Call it The Stretch 3?

Prefer the spine as it is, but a choil like on the Calys would be nice:thumbup:

The shallow choil is my sole complaint with this knife. It just doesn't feel as secure as a deeper one. Pretty minor complaint, though. I'm happy with the blade as is.

Function trumps aesthetics every time for me.

This is my personal feeling. If you were to make any changes I would love some forward jimping on the spine similar to the Jester, but I personally don't know if I would buy one with a different blade shape. The spine is fine and If you need a straight spine, buy an endura.

please no. If anything eliminate the existing choil and build one into the handle that is right under the pivot area. And the blade shape is a very unique one. Please don't change it. Unless it was to make the spydie hole a touch smaller which would nicely reduce the hump just a little.

The way it should be. You'd be surprised at how many have voiced their displeasure over the looks of the spine and pass on getting one because of looks alone.

This would be a different version, won't make my five and growing Stretch collection obsolete and the original version can stay available. Want to see what Sal has in mind...

Even with the hump removed it is still unique from its cousin the Endura; Much thinner grind, a sweeping belly, better Spydiehole placement, choil...
