Stretch?

The Nishijin Damascus Stretch is an exclusive, not a sprint. If the distributor wants to make more, it is in their contract to be able to do so.

Thanx for the input. We wouldn't change the handle from the finger choil back. Only the choil would be deeper, more like the Caly. It has been suggested that we offer both blades. (current and straight spine).

Deepening the choil is a mold change so no going back.

Just my two cents, but I would suggest deepening the choil to be like the PM2, rather than the Caly. Placing a Stretch on the PM, the handles are almost identical other than the choil and the but. The PM2 choil is just a little deeper, but feels better and more secure. The Caly choil is much thinner and may be too much so for the thicker Stretch. The more I handle the Stretch the more I love it. It carries great, fits the hands perfectly and is a sick slicer. Love this knife, I'd really like to see it be available in a couple of different handle materials, colors and blade shapes at "user knife" price points.

Current plan is to deepen the choil on the molds. We're making models now to determine the best size and shape. I designed both the Stretch and Caly 3.5 for my own use so I'm a tad biased. :o

I am onboard, Sal. Although we definitely don't have the same hands (mine are pretty thin) I feel like the Calypso design is perfect for me. :D

I prefer the Caly choil because it is not too subtle (ie. Stretch) nor too defined (ie. Manix 2). I think it strikes a nice balance of safety and comfort during use. I'm eagerly anticipating the re-design and will likely pick one up whether the spine is changed or not. Thanks for the CQI.

I'd love to see a Stretch with the CF/G10 Laminate handle and ZDP-189. I'd also like to see that as a Stretch 3".

Can't wait to see it. The Stretch and Caly are both amazing, hats off to you for working to improve an already great product!

Can post some photos? can't wait to see the non stock photos :)
Don't have the blue one yet, but here's a couple shots of the black...

600 made of each color AFAIK so you might have to be quick. Would have preferred lighter scales without as much of a pattern myself (gets a little busy imho)

I agree. Haven't decided on a species yet, but I'm planning to have one of them rescaled in wood and have the blade polished to reduce the contrast. I'm not a huge fan of the pattern used on these, and on much of Japanese damascus, but I much prefer the way it looks on most VG-10 damascus kitchen knives, including the Seto's that Spyderco sells, where they use a low contrast etch.

That sounds like a great idea. Pics when it is done? :D

BRG ZDP-189, I like my Stretch a good deal, the steel is interesting to say the least, and it sports a very useful blade profile, for my uses. I'd love to see more variations.

Towed a float in a local Christmas parade Saturday night and we used a whole mess of super thick zip ties for various purposes on the float. I used my Stretch (VG10) to cut off the tags on a lot of the ties before the parade and to disassemble the float afterwards. The ties were so thick I had to either saw on them a bit or wedge the knife against something hard to create pressure to cut through it. I thought for sure the edge would be either rolled or completely dull. I was shocked when I tried a paper cut test and it sliced right through thin receipt paper. There were a couple catch points on the edge, but for the most part, it was a nice working edge. I was very impressed to say the least and love the Stretch VG-10 as an EDC and working blade that cuts like mad and I don't have to worry about messing up an overly expensive knife. Great job Spyderco!
