Strider .75 AR Controversy

Was there a trial? What was the result at the court?

Clearly you didn't read the link in my original post, and you have no clue what you're talking about. Here it is again to make it even easier for you: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/mick-strider-has-some-explaining-to-do.453852/

To answer your question, yes there was a civil suit against him for libel and defamation. The judgement was against him. This is all in post number 6 of the thread I linked to above, but here's the relevant part, in case you don't read through that again.

"Mick Strider hereby acknowledges that he has never been deployed as a U.S. Army Ranger. Strider also acknowledges that he has never served in or participated with SOCOM (Special Operations Command). Strider also acknowledges that he has never had any combat experience with any branch of the U.S. Military or U.S.Government Agencies, nor has he participated in any "Black Ops". Strider served in 2/75, but never graduated Ranger School. Strider lost all rank, was barred from re-enlistment and was discharged from the Military as a Private.

In part (d) of the settlement, Strider is compelled to set the record straight wherever and whenever such lies are outted!!

(d) To the extent that any contrary representations have been made or are made in the future, by any other person or entity, Strider agrees he shall take the following affirmative steps within three (3) weeks after notice by Plaintiffs:
(1) send a letter via certified mail to the person or entity identified by the Plaintiffs affirming all of the information set forth in the first sentence of this paragraph and a request that any contrary representations be immediately corrected, and (2) send a copy of that letter and a certified mail receipt to Plaintiffs or their attorneys of record. Notice shall be deemed effective on Strider by sending a letter to Strider at his last known address or by sending a letter to his attorney of record in this litigation via certified mail.

(e)SKI will immediately cease and desist from holding Strider out as having ever been deployed as a U.S. Army Ranger, a member of or a participant with SOCOM, as having ever been deployed in "black ops", or as having had any combat experience with any branch of the U.S.Military or U.S. Government. SKI shall take immediate actions to correct any such representations currently made on its own website (see Exhibit B) and to the extent possible shall take immediate actions to correct any such representations by its business partners, including but not limited to advertising regarding SKI's partnership and distribution through Buck Knives."

This is so beautiful, it's like poetry.

I've practiced Social Media Distancing for some decades now, got no Instabook, no Face-o-Gram, no Twatter...

So I guess I'm probably missing a whole big piece of the "controversy" mentioned in the OP.

Am I to gather that folks thought they got a knife made by Mick Burger, but they're disgruntled to discover that it was made by Medford?

THAT is the deception by Mick that they are all uptight about?

Okay.

Okay.

Not exactly. Certainly some might be irked by that currently. Some might wonder who's making the current M.Strider knives. The problem most have go farther back than that.

Yes that is the double standard I was trying to get at in the original post.

It takes a lot of cognitive dissonance to be ok with stolen valor, while being more upset about the same stolen valor scumbag lying about who makes his knives.

Am I to gather that folks thought they got a knife made by Mick Burger, but they're disgruntled to discover that it was made by Medford?

My current theory is that they're upset they may have gotten a halfway decently made knife. They couldn't possibly be upset about this lie over all the others, right?

May I be so bold as to assume that what Velitrius Velitrius is saying is that not being up front about who makes his knives is the least of the Burger deceptions we should be worried about.

Pretty much exactly, Cray. I mean it's like if somebody shouted "Mick Strider didn't give me correct change for a $500 bill!" we should beware.

Is the Instagram crowd starting off at ground zero of knowledge? You'd think these kids would have decent Google-Fu.

I'd bet that these folk who are all butt-hurt about the "manufacturer switcheroo" don't even know his name ain't Mick Strider. For starters.

Aw well. Search function is your friend, folks.

Thank you for the summary!
Of course I read the thread (man, over 1600 posts in one week! - should be the all-time record in BF) but it is possible indeed that I didn't understand everything.
May I ask some more questions? (Not specific to you but to everyone who can answer them.)

So, there was a trial and he acknowledged the charges against him.
-> Is something known about his punishment? (A fine, prison? - thought he was in jail for car-stealing)

When I understand the critics correct, he is accused to still lying about his military career, correct?
If this is correct there should be a trial against him again.
-> Is a new trial known?

If you are trying to work some sort of Devil's advocate/Jedi mind trick on Mick's behalf you should probably take a hard right, hard left or hard 180 & go to Plan B).
Just curiosity about this whole charade - no need to threaten me.

As far as I can tell, the drama is in the facebook group (it's private and I'm not a member). Burger owns and controls the group; dissenters and those who don't kneel down at the alter of the almighty black ops hero are immediately thrown out. It's the perfect echo chamber to inflate an ego and mislead people who don't know better.

That would do it. Thanks for the heads up.

Now I can go back to my casual disinterest in this matter.

T ThrawnX , As SilentH has told you earlier, all your questions were answered in this thread: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/mick-strider-has-some-explaining-to-do.453852/
Why won't you read it instead of asking the same questions over and over?

I read it again (ok, first 10 pages)

Still didn't find the answers to my questions:
-> What was his punishment after the trial?
I read: He was in jail for 5 years because of car stealing.
This is a long time -> must be a serious crime from court's perspective

From what I understood, stolen Valor is a very serious crime as well for a lot of people (or much more serious! "must not be compared to "simple" lies or stealing design, …")

And some are saying that he still lies and uses his fake military background to sell knives
-> Is there a new trial? If not, why?

I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread - maybe it should be discussed in a seperated one (if desired)
