Strider .75 AR Controversy

What folders get me that close to the edge without choils? Gayle Bradley 1 is the only thing that comes to mind.

These are the first two I grabbed. Your finger might be a millimeter or two farther away, but that makes no practicable difference

I will say the strider 75 blade looks to be much better designed than his traditional models.

I'm not sure I take your meaning. I don't see any Bladeforums members being insulted in this thread. We're discussing a stolen valor car thief maker who changed his name to sound cool (rather like children did on the playground back in the day when they were pretending to be superheroes) and can't design a knife properly, yet claims the designs are the result of his completely fabricated Ranger special forces military career. That, and the knives, are worthy of ridicule.

No one has insulted you personally, or any other BF member personally (heh, because Burgerbag's not a member here, this is technically correct).

Is there something I'm missing?

Edited to add: In any case, I expect this thread will be locked soon, as is usual whenever Strider fans get roasty over others making light of the maker's terrible life (and knife design) choices.

The below is going after a member simply because he expressed the idea he would consider purchasing a .75 AR - that is what the type of thing I mean. I have removed the names of the posters because I actually like each and every one of them based upon other interactions on this forum, so I am not interested in criticizing them personally.

I would buy one.

Also noted.

Your knives are made in China, so I’m not surprised:poop:

Noted as well. Oh well, I have plenty of CKF knives already, I don't suppose I need any more of them.

No need to redact names. I know who at least one of those evil people are ;)

I'm not sure how saying the word "noted" is going after someone, especially given who that someone is. But like I said before, you know how many of us feel on this subject, so there should be no surprises.

As specified, no animus to anyone. What would the post "noted" signify then? If I note something, that is one thing. It is something different to announce it.

It signifies who supports the scumbag and who doesn’t. I don’t support thieves and liars, and I question those who do. In the case of CKF, I expressed my opinion based on the fact that they themselves are known to fly under the radar about the truth behind their products. Irony, if you will...

Woah. So cfk does Collabs with the same makers they rip off as Kevin john? And cfk knives are Chinese?

I'm not sure what your point is, as no insults are apparent. What you are seeing are members who are "noting" other members' personal views on this matter for future reference. That could mean that they may not do business with them, or perhaps some respect was lost. Not my place to say, but I CAN say that my factual observation remains, no insults have been posted up in this thread.

I think it would be more accurate to say that CKF resold a Kevin John knife (Venom/Daboia, IIRC) and many have speculated that they are more strongly connected than that.

They've openly admitted to having their Russian designers' designs manufactured in China, though, so that much is verified, at least.

Nice false dilemma, Champ. Better luck next time:thumbsup:

What, you mean not buying something optional to you from someone you know is a scumbag isn't exactly the same as buying a mobile phone or a car that has a Chinese part in it? lol

For what it's worth I like you too. Heck, I like my CKF Milk, my customized CKF Ratata, my normal CKF Ratata, my customized CKF SSE and my customized CKF Asymmetric Midi too. That said, they were already in suspicious territory with the whole KJ reselling thing and openly voicing their support for Strider is enough to put them on my own personal no-fly list.

. . . but I wouldn't want you, or anyone else, to take my decision where I'm planning to spend my money as an attack. There is at least one Strider model I really like, I'd buy a PT in a heartbeat if it didn't support his business, however indirectly.

Everyone makes their own personal decisions about these things. In my Army years I had the pleasure of serving in some actual spec ops units, 2/3 SFG(A) and 1/10 SFG(A) and IMO there are a lot of good actual halo scuba ninja killers out there risking their lives on the tip of the spear that deserve a little more respect than having some scrub who rocked out of the ranger bat (we're talking about someone that completed three weeks of RIP, not ranger school, mind you) eight minutes after he got there, lying about being black ops secret squirrel Mick Strider to sell knives when he was really busted private Mickey Ray Burger who was assigned to the 75th for three months of what would end up being an eleven month long military career (info from the FOIA materials quoted in the mega thread right here on BF). That rubs me the wrong way.

I'm fickle, though. I just tossed CKF on my no fly list and I've also recently reached a tentative decision to never buy another knife that uses custom screws, for example. I'm still figuring out whether I'll allow exceptions for companies that provide the tool for the custom screw with every knife, though. Like I said, I'm a bit fickle.

Well, I mean T ThrawnX acts like he goes to each knife factory and shakes hands (or bumps elbows?) with each employee and does a background check.

Yeah, there are times when I don’t really have a choice in what I buy or other times where I may have supported a questionable person (cough....cough...marfione...cough...) but the fact of the matter is that the proof is in the Strider pudding, and I ain’t gonna stick my spoon in that one.

I thought it was noteworthy that an already questionable company has no problem publicly stating that they support a dirty scumbag. I also thought others might be interested that I find such a thing noteworthy. I am quite popular :D
