Strider Customer Service and Quality Control

Personally I think its too much of a gamble to pay top dollar for a knife that may or may not be in need of a repair.

But then I'm on the other side of the world so I can't afford to return stuff on a whim.

From what I have heard, you are far better off with a Sebenza.

on 2/27/2010 you posted the same info:

Did you have STR mod the clip before or after you sent it to Strider ? Was the tip modded before or after you got it back from Strider ?

Just curious why now a month later , you are making this post ?

I've had fairly good Striders personally. Two of my PTs were flawless, the third? Well, lets just say sub par and leave it that. Both my SnGs were knives I thought compared to anything I've ever owned. This knife was sub par. The fixes were easy but the point is it needed them when new.

John, hi. I got it after Strider had it for some time based on my recall. I forget now why they had it initially. I would have to look that up or read more (Edit: Okay found it. Off center blade and sharpening so my guess is the point was exposed when Strider sharpened it) but I remember discovering the point didn't go down when the blade closed and was at rest. It stuck up pretty good actually, well enough to catch the pocket and in my case the skin of my index finger as I was examining it which alerted me to the issue. For what its worth I've noted this in the design of this handle in these models for some time and never said anything about it.

What you have is a progressively sloping handle design which tends to be problematic over time for point exposure with sharpening a progressive height in the blade profile as you go back like on many clip and Persian style folders. In the case of this folder it was way early showing up before it was even used much at all and apparently upon the first sharpening. We have all seen these traits in older knives at gun shows on what I call grandfather knives that were sharpened down changing both the profile and look of the blade to where yeah, it still closes but it no longer lets the point conceal in the folder on that sloping design handle now that its well used and seen its fair share of bench stones. I figure our great great grand kids will see some old Strider PT, SnG and other models probably done this way as well as many other knives with similar characteristics from use and sharpening through time when they go to gun and knife shows in the future. Providing of course there is still such a thing.
