Strider Folders - why so expensive?

Are Randalls "state of the art"? Probably not. Their top of the line stainless steel is 440C. ...but they are forged while most other knives are made by stock removal. They are well made, the first one I got was a Model #16 set up more like a small Model #14 than a diver's knife. When I set it down hard on a table, the sound it made was like closing the door to a bank vault -- no hollow ring, no loose guards, just a solid thunk. All the 30 or so Randalls I've owned over the years have been the same.

They have a following, you can't define it, or stop it. You can only jump on board, or not, your choice. If you don't get it, or don't want one, move on. There are lots out there that are glad to have one or more in their stable -- me included.

Wise words! Particulary the last paragraph as you say.:thumbup:
 
May be you look for other brand that never make you think about the prize.
But if prize is not your big problem and you like it, try strider.
 
Actually, I believe that the top of the line Randall stainless is 440B! :eek:
And I really wish everyone would do their homework, and find out how good 440C really is. After all, Walter Brend, and Gil Hibben use it religiously!
 
does a $200.00 pair of jeans perform any better than a $40.00 pair of Levis??? it's all in what you WANT. give me the Levis and $160 to buy customs with!!

pretty well, i carry my AR a tad bit more than my Zt 0301... just depends on my mood i guess. overall they are both great knives and the ZT is a bit cheaper, id definetly recomend it. (or save the extra for an SMF ;) )
