Strider Knives

My strider is crappy so many issues with it and it's too big in the pocket not to mention he's built his fame on stolen Valor. Way better knives out there to support them. Got mine in a package deal. Basically free.

Only thing good is the heat treatment by BOS or Peter's. I dunno who's doing them now.

But those guys at strider are low life's. And shit makers.

Wow, what a turd this guy is. I think a lot of guys probably embellish their service record, but it's more fishing story embellishment, not this malarkey. I wouldn't own one of this scumbags knives if you paid me. As a non heroic, rarely fired my weapon combat vet, I'm disgusted by people like this.

I like Strider fixed blades better than their folders, but would not pay current prices for any of them. Back when you could get a Strider fixed blade for $275, it may not have looked like much, but outside of them, I've never had such a well heat-treated and well sharpened prybar. Only knife I've ever had that was a hair-shaving prybar.

I recently purchased a new SnG on eBay and I’ve used it a lot and like it.

For both good and not so good reasons I view this to be a historically relevant knife and wanted one in my collection.

Plus, I’ve worked really hard for my money and I don’t let others try to tell me how to spend it.
I also see Striders as "historically relevant." It was the first "major" knife company built almost entirely on the strength of stolen valor scumbaggery. My conclusion was that I'd never own one for that reason.

Wouldn't this forum be different if we started discussing all of men's low life activities.
I have three Striders left, but usually don't carry them because they are too heavy.

Might want to ask the forum owner, who put together that rather large amount of information linked above about how much of a scumbag strider is and how his business is built on stolen valor.

The hilarious irony is not lost on me that your username "JDRanger" is literally more real than Ray Burger's self-proclaimed Ranger experience.

Todays prices on the exchanges exhibit secondary market inflation- that old supply and demand out of balance thing. Past prices were roughly in line with other small production makers, and supply was never so much that they couldn't maintain the price.

Even before the secondary market took off I always felt they were vastly over priced. Looking at just the knives, not the antics of the douchebag behind them I still don't get the allure. They were built beefy but at their price level I saw way too many F&F issues. The fans always claimed "these aren't for the F&F crowd" but I ask: What crowd WERE they for then? Because if they were trying to push them as some sort of "combat knife" I'd say that was a massive fail too as they didn't exactly have the right blade or handle shapes for that either.

Well, people buy Medfords too I guess.

x2

I own a few Strider fixed blades and carry one or the other almost daily. I esp like the DB as it’s easy to carry and fills the role of an urban carry blade perfectly. I’ve used it to cut, pry, hammer, break down boxes, etc and it stands the test of time and use. It’s probably my most used and trusted fixed blade.

I wouldn't own one if they were giving them away with hundred dollar bills attached. Mick (Strider) Burger is a lyin' POS and his knives are nothing but sharpened pry bars very likely made in China..--KV

Used to own a AR. Met them at a couple of knife shows in the early 2000’s and was pretty much lied to in person about his service.

Found that out here after I got out of the Marines. Live and learn, I now am mostly skeptical about people’s military claims when it comes to the knife industry.

Check out the links on this guy and get back to us. "Low life activities" would be a compliment.--KV

I still don't understand why their knives are/were so expensive.
It's a well put together knife for sure....
And a first of its kind...
But really? A Glock sells for less and I think a lot more engineering, machining, etc goes into a Glock/Beretta/SIG etc, so on and so forth

A Gen 1 Glock 17 had a unit cost of around $70.

A knife out of adequate materials doesn't have to be expensive. It's when you start demanding REX45 and Titanium that the price escalates. My Byrd in 8CR13MOV ($13 in 2009) is perfectly serviceable and so is my Taurus PT111 Millennium G2 that I paid $179 for. If you want a Sig Legion it will cost a little more ($1,075 last I checked).

The current $26 Byrd's compare well with a $299 Ruger Security 9 Compact. You are comparing a "Legion" Knife to a Byrd Pistol.

Anyone still carry your Strider?
I opened some packed boxes today and found three of my old Striders. I think I will carry SJ75 for while. This SJ has a real fine edge, it's a slicer.
Want to get rid of your SJ?

I had 2 SnGs, 3 SMFs, and 1 mini SJ75. All great with no issues but 1 that its blade cracked by the thumb stud. The blade was replaced no questions asked and returned within 2 weeks.
When I read and researched about his reputation I sold them.
Great knives though, if you like overbuilt knives.
