I noticed on a certain monkey website that Strider prices have gone up by 20...... its only on this site so far though.

I noticed that $20 increase on another popular site too. I've always had Strider on my "buy list" but something always stops me from pulling the trigger.

Is it the cost, perhaps?
Its what always stops me. I'd love to own one but there is no way I'd pay for their asking price.

I have noticed a price increase in the models that they are adding cerrakote to, but if it's an increase on standard models, I don't believe that there is any justification for it.
Monkey edge is known for especially high prices especially on one-off customs that they score at shows. They have sweet gear, but you have to be really sure you want it
to pay their prices.
best of luck.

Looks like an across the line $20 increase for folders. I checked three different sites. I wonder whats up with that.

Microtech had a similar increase at the beginning of 2015. I was getting emails from distributors saying to "buy now" before the price went up. But I believe Microtech was a $40 increase. I'll see if I still have the email. But it was pertaining to their Auto's only.

Speaking of increase in price, Microtech seems to have completely abandoned their standard folder knife production and now only sells "Marfione" Customs. You really can't touch a folder for under $1,000 anymore.

I see a lot of Mick Strider Customs out there now-a-days too. Many going for $2,000 +. Let's hope Strider doesn't follow the same "custom knife only" theory for profit margin.

It makes no sense to me to make only expensive customs... your company made so much on the lower end products and you got it out to a larger number of people. As for the strider price, I too have noticed the increase in all their models.

I have been waiting for a standard Microtech socom delta to come out for ever.

Funny thing is I have seen Hinderer prices drop on the internet knife sites.

I heard a rumor they were going to do more socoms soon but that is just a rumor from another person who said it was a rumor so take it with a very large grain of salt. I'd love for it to happen but I don't know if it will

well, it's not like this thread was going to go anywhere positive anyway. They aren't active on this forum to read or address the complaints. It will probably just turn into a selection of random gripes and arguments.

I am just going to leave it at that one post bro....

I am working on forum-self-betterment.

Back on topic, I just received my $550 Strider SMF in Gun Grip with S30V Stonewashed Blade 2 days ago. I have to say... It was a bargain. Compared to my Custom Microtech's, it is every bit as good in terms of being a stout, tactical blade. Now the real question is, would I choose the $550 Strider SMF over a $330 Microtech Socom Delta. Yes, yes I would.

Now.. Do I own both? Yep.. That Strider SMF is the real deal. It's blown my mind actually.. Worth every penny. You really will never know until you get one.
Going against a Benchmade or ZT, it will stand head and shoulders above. In my opinion anyway.

So if they now charge a bit more due to metal mining prices going up a bit, I think that is fine. Or.. If they rose their price due to paying their employees more or something like that.. again I would be fine with it. But I would admit, they are pushing the envelope for a production folder. $500 is getting quite high.. But damn they are amazing and man.. you sure can't find many out there either..

Not to mention they are made in very small batches and would be considered Full Custom by most other manufacture's standards. I stand my belief they are a bargain.

I'd still pay the increased price for a strider PT cc. Most comfortable 'tiny' knife I've ever owned...regret getting rid of it and been searching for one ever since.

Yes, I have seen two different sites that the SMFs have gone up twenty dollars. I can only imagine that's for inflation and the price of being USA made. Some people may scoff at a 500 dollar knife being worth every penny, but I imagine they never gave strider a chance either. I was one of them. Now I kick myself for losing all those years of not using a strider due to misguided speculations and indictments instead of trying the knife and using it in such a way that it's true nature and intent manifests. I believe that strider knives, SMF being my favorite (just noting), is the leading contender in its class and warrants the price and so I see a 20 dollar legal tender raise as small thing. That being said, I'm sure it will disillusion even further the general nay Sayers of Mick Strider. However, let's face it, strider ownership is a club and I don't think it was ever intended by its creators or members to be fully embraced or accepted by the entire population.

I know what I'm getting for $500 or more when I get a Strider. Talk about beating a dead horse! Who cares what the man did years ago? He is a good guy and makes GREAT knives.
