Strider Sng vs. PT

well... right now im stashing a bit of money aside each month to feel a little better about buying a $300-$400 knife... you'll have to let me know how you like the pt
problem with the sng cc is that it adds another $45

As a fellow student I know how it is when money is tight. If you want a good feel of a SnG, try to find a Strider/Buck 889 at a local shop to see if you can handle it. They are identical is shape and ergonomics. I actually swapped the blades from my SnG tanto with a SBMF 889 and it's a perfect fit  I compared them and the only difference is the handle material. As for the sebenza, it's not the most ergonomic thing in the world, but it really has that "custom" feel to it. It's hard to describe, but you'll know it when you handle one.

An easy way to fondle a few knives is to look up listings of gun shows in your area. They usually run once a month here in my area, and it's an easy way to look at and find your ideal knife without having to buy anything blindly.

You could sell off a few of your knives and use that to help with your funding. Hope that helps, J.

damnit... there was one this weekend i didn't even know about and the next one isn't until early february

man... half a grand for a knife
how much did you guys drop for the sng cc, most of the ones i have seen are bumped up another $50

i bought mine at lapolicegear.com.

they give an leo discount, so i did ok. ;)

but i think they stopped carrying strider products.

Right now I'm trying to find a site that offers a military discount... so far no one has replied back to my emails

You may want to contact Strider directly, I think they might offer a military discount.

Not to resurrect an old thread, but as an SnG daily user, just wondering how the PT would feel.
For reference, I carried (quite happily, until the tip broke) a Spyderco FRN Native.
Is the PT bigger/smaller than the FRN Native?
Thx.

Had a PT CC a couple of years ago and didn't like the lock up and sold it.

Really liked the look and ergos and just had to get another one a couple of weeks ago.....regular PT in ranger green and digicamo.... took the clip off and pocket carry in separate pocket.

P.T is a little smaller than the Native. But is more comfortable holding by the choil IMHO.

I do love them both :)

I edc my PT and use my SnG on weekend trails and camping chores.

Well, I love the look of Striders. I would only ever get their SNG or PT though. Anything bigger I think I would get a Crusader Forge, those things are tanks.

Thanks, but most have moved on to new homes. I only seem to keep about 15-25 around.

My ideal "collection" is to have as few knives as possible...yet still be happy with the collection. I want to "use" all my knives a lot. So I'm just a user on the hunt for a few nice knives.

The "others" are just for fun
;)

Roger that.
I’ve culled my collection down to 5 EDC/Dress knives, 2 hard use, and 1 butterfly.
It feels great. I'm happy with them all.
I still have a couple folders in my truck, BOB, and assorted packs. Those never leave their cocoons so that they will be there when I need them. But I don’t carry them.
My fixed blades were going down in number until I bought a couple of 10 inch blades last month.
Then I had to buy a TOPS Pry Knife…..DOH! I had to buy that, ‘cause I didn’t have anything like it at all. I had to I tell Ya!
Now I'm back to buying flashlights. If they would put a limit on lumens, and quit making them brighter and smaller I wouldn't have to buy any more of those either.
