hey guys i couldent find this so i though i would post it here. I was able to get a used stride rw-1. It was really dirty when i got it so i would like to take it apart to clean it. But im not sure what the best way to take apart the main bolt is? also it looks like the guy i got it from dident either and there are some sharp edges from him trying. Will strider send me a new bolt? thanks guys.

strider modified their warranty not too long ago. and since i don't currently own any, i haven't kept up on the changes.

as far as disassembly, i used two hex keys on the sng's i have had. never had any problem taking one down.

i also understand they changed the pivot to a proprietary screw of some sort.

My modle has a hex point on one side and 2 grooves on the other but im not sure what will fit in that.

it takes a spanner tool, which can be costly as well.

mine had that too. i just put a hex key in each side and turned in opposite directions. always worked for me.

im sorry id dont quite follow. i can only get a allen wrence in on one side. who sells spanner tools?

i think knifeart.com may have some.

or google strider spanner tool. i can't remember who makes them.

Could you use one of the bits in this set?

*sorry for large pic, need it for detail though*

Strider will not send any parts out to you, if you need it repaired they will fix it. If you/or previous owner broke it when trying to fix it, they will charge you to fix it. Most of the time all you will need is an Allen wrench, but if the whole pivot spins then you will need a spanner tool. I made a spanner out of a US dime using a dremmel. Very simple.
Good luck

I've taken them apart before, not worth the time or the money spent on a tool. A water hose and can of WD40 works just as good, it's faster, and cheaper. I sold my tool and have been using this method for over a year now, no problems at all.

And no, Strider won't send you a new pivot because the previous owner scratched it.

On my PT the spanner side of the pivot was pressed into the G10 so I didn't need the spanner at all. Since it was held firmly in place I just needed a torx driver for the other side. I'm not familliar withthe RW1 though so this might not apply.

It's a PITA but send it in, then you're done.
I did that with my used SnG. ;)
