Strider Take down

I think he is saying that you shouldn't have to take your knife apart to clean it. Just run it under a water hose and then spray it with WD40, and your good to go.

Alright, apparently there have been some comprehension issues.

What I'm saying is you DON'T need to take your Strider apart to get it clean. Literally, take it outside, spray it with a water hose on higher pressure down around the pivot, the knife will be just as clean as if you took it apart. Spray WD40 down around the pivot. Then you're done. I used to take my SnG apart to clean it, now I've been using this method for the last year. I've yet to notice any difference in function.

Once again......the water hose does not take your Strider apart for you.

oooohhhhh. now it makes more sence. Sorry for my dumbness. I just spent the last 2 hours trying to make a tool to take it apart with no luck. now that i know i dont have to take it apart to clean it i just need to tighten it. Any advece on how to make a tool woule be great. Has anyone used the chainring nut wrench as suggested befor?

I've used the chainring nut wrench on an SNG that I used to own whenever I needed to adjust the pivot. Later sold that knife, and haven't had to really use it on my current SNG. However, back when I did use it regularly, it worked really well... Actually before it will fit, you'll have to file a little bit off the little tabs first. Really easy to do, just keep checking it against the pivot as you go. I found that the long handle really made it very easy to apply lots of torque if needed. Also I fumbled around much less as I could easily hold the knife handle and tool with one hand, and make adjustments with the other using an Allen wrench. I actually sold off another custom titanium spanner tool that I had bought because it worked so much better besides being so cheap.
