Which do u guys like better and why?

I like Strider, but lately it's so much easier to get stuff for my Emersons since they actually have a working website.

Strider for steel choice and heat treat, the pivot size, the robustness of the body screws, and the frame-lock.
Emerson's have some nice ergos, but the lack of frame-locks bugs me.
Still have my CQC-12 though (frame-lock:)).

The lack of a website NEARLY put me off Striders...NEARLY. Glad I got one. You will be too. I didn't have the same "my first prom" feeling with any of my Emersons, they're cool but not a good Strider cool if you smell what I'm cooking.

There's no comparison. Striders won't have the tip chip off like it did with both my Super CQC-7's. Striders won't develop blade play simply from opening and closing. Striders won't have the lockbar move all the way to the right in less than a year.

Both have their place. I love them both for different reasons. I carry my cqc11 more than my SMF because of the wave speed.

I have owned and liked both Strider and Emerson knives at times but my thoughts these days are why spend the money for either when you can buy a Zero Tolerance and beat both pretty much across the board?

I think both are kind of overpriced...

I'm going to have to agree. I was always interested in the emerson super commander but it goes for over 200$ and for that price I can get a espada large and still have change to spare.

I've never handled a Strider, but from the specs of the SmF, I can tell it would feel less like a brick in my pocket than my ZT 0301. Though from watching all the "hard use" videos of the ZT 030X series, I'm fairly certain it can take roughly the same level of abuse as the Strider, though I'm not entirely sure the ZT can stab a computer monitor without chipping. Of course, there's no practical reason why I need it to. I also suspect that the Strider's S30V will be run harder and still be tougher due to the Bos recipe heat treatment.

Also, while both knives are similar in some ways, I feel the Strider has enough unique differences to make it worth purchasing even if one already has a ZT.

However, ask me to choose between ZT and Emerson and I will go with ZT in a heartbeat:thumbup:.

I have never warmed up to Emersons. I have held several models in my hand, and none of them ever spoke to me. I cannot say they are great, good or bad knives - they just don't turn me on. Striders do, and my gunner grip SmF with digicam blade is tough as nails and unique as hell. I own several ZT models, and I agree that they are tough, but I dig my Strider. I cannot see spending the $$$ the Strider boys ask for the custom models - I use everything I own and do not collect safe queens - the thought of carrying an $1,800 knife around makes me feel queasy.

Emerson knives kill Striders. Well just the CQC-12 and HD-7. :D

However in my opinion I think Zero Tolerance knives slaughter both by a long shot.

CQC-8 is still one of my favorites... Strider knives lack the elegance this knife has imho.

I'd go with the more affordable, utilitarian Emerson. Striders are tough knives but the Emerson is also a very tough knife. I've never had an Emerson fail on me. I once had a Strider AR that would not lock up.

Emersons started my true knife passion. However, as mentioned, the lack of a frame lock and receiving a cqc with late lock up has tainted me.

I have a gentlemen Jim on order and that will be my first Emerson... However, I have a pt and it has play, which really pisses me off. Knife has great ergos though and I love the way it looks

Well, I (only) have 4 Emersons (Persian, Gentleman Jim, Gipsy Jack, CQC-7A) and so far I have had zero problems with them, I am very satisfied with their toughness and quality.

That said, I just received (TODAY, yeah baby!) my FIRST Strider (a SMF 3/4 Grind, Ranger Green handles, S30V) and the first impression is ... WOW! I mean, it seems like truly built to last.

Both are great knives, but if my initial impressions re. Strider are confirmed, I'd say Strider.
