Im happy with how it came out for the little work that was involved. Kinda wish there were a few more tool marks but Im sure I can add some myself. The etching took the longest but I think it came out perfect. Its hard to see in the pictures but you can def feel the logo and see it better in person. I left it on for 4 hours, scrubbing and changing the solution every hour. Could have prob gone an extra hour but I was running out of time. The stripper I used was awesome, applied and left on for 15 mins and ALL the coating was loose. I scrubbed it with a wire brush, then with the pad, almsot like steel wool. Put on a coat of RemOil and there ya go!
I might try hand sanding when I get time this week.

Thanks for the info/photos. I plan to do this to my NMSFNO soon...;-)

Nope, it's good to go. That is some bad stuff though. I'm not usually one for wearing glasses, and I didn but should have. I got some on my face and forearm and you instantly know it! Works great though. All the stuff used I picked up fro Lowes for less than $15, and the PCB from radio shack was $12.

Looks fantastic :thumbup:

definite upgrade IMHO, brother...:thumbup::D

but now you got "stripper fever"...:eek:

and the only cure is....more stripping! :cool:

Heard that, having to stop myself from ordering an AMS just to do it again. That is some rough stuff though, Id almost be scared to use the PCB or stripper on black micarta. Tan you might be able to get away with an accident a little better. The PCB is blood red and wants to creep everywhere even though it does have pretty good surface tension.

I'd leave it as it sits in the final picture. The seel all "textured" is super cool. I love that look. Wish ally knovesblooked like that. IN time.

Im kinda worried about the areas right next to the handles that i might not have gotten all the decarb off of, id hate for it to rust :eek:

question on the pcb etching:
do you just scrape/carve over the Busse logo with the solution on the point of a metal handle, or do you pour the solution completely over the area where the logo is.

that looks fantastic btw.
