Stripped Navy MKI....anyone done it yet?

Seeing pictures of those stripped Kraton Handled Mark 1 knives makes me wonder when Kabar is going to get with the program and make a run of those in 440-A Stainless. It would make a superb salt water knife.

Nice job, I think yours turned out really great too. The contrast between the handle and blade on the kraton version looks light-years better than the blade coating, imo.

Thanks for the thread & pics, Tanner. I had been wavering, and if I did decide to buy one, I was torn between the kraton & the stacked leather. Your pics decided me, I'm going kraton & stripping that bad boy asap! Don't get me wrong, I still love the classic look of the stacked leather, but I think the black plastic pieces throw off the look a little bit with the stripped blade. The black kraton handle with the polished blade just looks sooooo sick! I recently started modding some knives(stripped & added jimping to my BK-2 & EsKabar, & jimped my Cold Steel Voyager large clip-point), & now I'm totally hooked! Hopefully this will tide me over until the Tweeners arrive!

Joined the Cult of the MK1 today. Ordered a leather handled, plain bladed one.

Agreed, stripped w/ Kraton is teh hawtness. But I also like the idea of no-maintenance black coatings... Hrm.

That is a beautiful knife!
The MK1 has intrigued me from the beggining and I think I need to just pull the trigger.
