Hello, most of you will think..gosh what an idiot but in my defense it was a cheap metal so it stripped easily. On my Kershaw Chill the pocket clip screw stripped on me when I was changing the position of the clip. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix this?

Thanks, Ben

I don't know what the screw is like, but could you just replace it? Otherwise, there isn't much you can do to get it back to 100%. Molding some epoxy around it and shaping it can be finicky since it's such small, detailed work.

That's assuming you want to replace it. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "fix," whether you want to replace it or just want to set it correctly and leave it in place unnoticed... but there are lots of carpenter's tricks on taking out stripped screws. A little Google search will show you and you can choose the best method for your situation.

Kershaw will you hook you up. Just send it back or call and have them mail you the screws. If it makes you feel any better. I got a extrema ratio MF2 and when I went to change around the pocket clip, the threading in the handle literally disintegrated. Thank god the dealer gave me a refund after she checked all the models she had on hand and they all had the same problem. I really loved that knife too :(

Blue locktight may be a quick fix. You can always re-tap if it's the threads and not the screwhead, if the screw is stuck in place the only thing I know to do is drill it out.

To clear up any confusion, I stripped the head of the screw and the screw is still screwed into the knife, so having Kershaw send me screws would only work if I bought maybe a screw extractor set, but I am hoping that I only need to do that if nothing else works.

The screw that is stripped is a torx head screw size 6 like on most pocket clips. Also I mean fixing it by being able to unscrew it so that if I got replacement screws I could actually use the replacements.

Can you post a picture of it?

I've been able to get stripped screws out with vise grips, but the screws on the Chill have rounded heads, so there isn't much to grab. You're probably going to need a screw extractor.

I gutted a screw head on my ZT560 trying to replace the scale. In essence I voided my warranty and Kershaw still had me send my knife in. They pulled the bad screw replaced it and sent me my knife back. I'm pretty sure somebody even sharpened it too.

Can't beat that for a good company.

Grab it with some needle nose pliers and just screw it out. Then contact Kershaw and get them to send you some new pocket clip screws.

I have been using some copper crush and axle grease 50/50 on some bolts I dont want stuck (not spark plugs though)

That or put a drop of loctite in the screw, stick the torx in and wait for it to take a set, then you can unscrew it

^ Yup. It may scratch the clip a bit but the screw will come out if you do it right. (watch out that you don't pinch your palm with the pliers)

dude, I had the same problem with my kershaw JYD II with switching out handle scales, now I want a new scale on it and I can't get the old ones off. and again switching the clip around on my skyline.

kershaw: great company, great knives, great customer service, great value, awful hardware. guess you can't have everything

If you scratch up the clip too much, i have a Chill clip that I don't use that I can send you.
