How many folks have stripped one of these yet? I just saw a stripper on the Exchange, and it is the ugliest naked INFI I've ever seen. Are they all looking like that?

I'd like to hear on this as well.

It is definitely ugly. And it's now mine.

When your wife questions you on what you just laid out hundreds of dollars for, the right answer is NOT SHe is stripped and tan.... Big mistake. I don't know if it would have helped or hurt if I told her that SHe is ugly and looked better prior to stripping.

Congrats on that, you knew what you were buying, and got a good price.

It was pretty damn ugly in the stripper thread, but it looked better in the sales thread. I agree with resinguy, you knew what you were getting and got a good deal on it. You can always sand away if you want it to be pretty, but it's very usable as is.

I am aware I knew what I was buying. I didn't complain.

What are you guys implying by stating that?

Not implying anything, you got a great user at a good price, and didn't have to do the work of stripping. Winner.

But if mine looks like that after stripping, well, no amount of hand sanding can make those pits go away.

Maybe I'll just strip the grind, and leave the flats coated.

I love my SHe (black canvas/muddy) but even without stripping I can see the pits and unevenness. It doesn't bother me but have to admit it's the first time I've seen it on a coated Busse.

It was meant as a compliment.

In that case, thank you.

I'm going to sand it down and see what happens. Some of the pits are deep, so I'm curious what it will look like afterwards. The nice thing is, that if what we're seeing is some kind of indication that the blade is not as strong as it should be, that I know Jerry will stand behind it and take care of me.

I agree with a comment I read as well that the looks of this one will encourage me to beat the hell out of it and not worry about putting it through its paces.

And... I'm hopeful that the handle will feel as comfortable as that sweet custom SFNO BG.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure my poor attempt at a joke didn't come across like I was not happy with my purchase of the SHe. I've had my eye on these since they were announced.

There have been lots of great deals on these on the exchange. Couldn't pass this one up.

I can see now how my comment may have been confusing. In the stripper thread there were two that were stripped, the first one was pretty ugly under the coating. The one your purchased in the sales thread had some dimples but didn't look as rough the first one in the stripper thread. I meant that you got a good deal because you were willing to accept that even though it wasn't a beauty queen it was very usable, and you could always sand it if you wanted it to be more pretty.

By the way, I should have added that other than a few dimples, my SHe is perfect -- handles flush to blade, excellent grind from heel to tip. Love it

Same goes for me. I can see the pits/dimples and such under the coating, but everything else is perfect; I was and still am very impressed with the blade. Even though I bought it as a user, part of me wishes it was a bit prettier

If they release a LE version of it, you can bet I'd jump on it in an instant.

I have not stripped mine yet, but you can definitely tell it's pretty rough under there. Some of the dimples are deep enough that you can see bare metal in the bottom.

I was hoping it was just mine that had this issue with the coating, but it sounds like there is at least a few others. It doesn't bother me, because it will get stripped, sanded,

and used. I could see how others might be a little upset.

Oh, I'm not worried about that at all. Just the cosmetics.

I think I could handle those pits alot better than finding something like that ASHBM a while back that looked like someone used a dremmel tool to write "anniversary" on the blade. That one made me cringe a little. Lol!

I stripped mind and just got finished putting a convex edge on it. If you want a picture to post (I'm not good at it), send me an email with your email and I'll forward you a couple of pictures to post for the group. :>)
