Stripping my Naked Black Izula in 30 minutes...

Thank you, Zebra.

Note to self.... do not use sandpaper on the next stripper.
:D

Thank you for the great pics, I love naked blades! :D I used sandpaper once to remove the coating and this will never happen again...it took ages and all the dust from the coating was kinda unhealthy.

So when the paint/coating starts to wear off does it peel easily? What I'd like to consider doing is remove the coating from the blade but leave the tan on the spine of the handle and on the choil area of the blade. I geuss what I'm asking is if I start to remove it from the blade will it cause it to peel easily from the choil area.

Thanks Nemo.

After I removed the coating from my RC-3, it cuts better, at least IMHO.

I believe that. I guess this would be my only pet peeve with my Izula. I believe the coating makes for a much more difficult slice based on my experience. While the present coating is attractive, I would like to see a much more smooth type coating on the blades. On knives that are used for heavy duty chopping and heavy camp chores I don't think the present coating makes a difference, but for more delicate jobs, food prep, etc, I think a smoother coating could make a big difference. IMO.

you can always lightly sand the coating smooth. i cut cardboard with mine, and it smoothed the coating pretty quickly.

None of the finish really peeled of "easily" it all had to actually be scraped off. I would tape the parts of the knife you don't want to strip. Even though it did not just peel off, the finish was definitely weakened by the stripper..

OK, I'm fairly new to knives so forgive me is this is a silly question. Why would you want to strip the finish off of your Izula?

it improves the slicing ability, the coating's gonna come off anyway, some just like the way it looks.
