Well, I am weak. I told myself that I liked the color of my DTBM (do we really need to put the BG in the acronym? They weren't made any other way.) and that I was going to leave this one alone. Then I go and trim up a couple tri-tips for the grill and all of these pretty colors showed up on the sharpened edge. Before you know it......

More pics later.

Well, etching the logo was a waste of time. I'm starting to think that maybe Bossman doesn't want us stripping them.

Is that a squiggly line staining/etching the steel or is it cut/ scratched (not sure of the right term) into the steel. In any case, thanks for the show and tell.

Aside from the zig-zag grinder mark, the actual machining of the blade is by far the cleanest I've seen of the five or six knives I've worked on. It's a shame the logo side got scribbled on.

It is definitely ground into the steel.

That's pretty sweet. I'd hit it with a ScotchBrite wheel and be done.

Do you think the little scotch Brite disks that go on a die grinder would do a decent job?

yup...most of the time I use the tiny Dremel ones...so your's should be fine...Your blade will look great after buffing, I, for one, love those character marks!

I'm really hoping I can get it down past those character marks. Machine marks and infi dimples I don't mind but this one makes me feel a little OCD when I look at it. Like I started a job and it won't be done until this side of the blade matches the other side.

Lol, looks like somebody "drew" on that with a dremel. On purpose. It's perfectly between the grind and the spine. It even spreads out intentionally as it gets near the handle. Somebody left you some funny graffiti.

Meh, I'd just polish her down to the shine and leave it. I don't think you'll be able to take the "scribblin's" out. They look pretty deep in there.

If I can wake up before the PO closes tomorrow I'm gonna whack the F&$%'ing stuffing out of it. My AMS failed at cleaning some bluegill but did alright at bass this weekend, I'm looking for a win on Monday. It's funny to me.. If I had to, I'd clean X with X.. filleting fish is a sonuvabitch! I sure as shoot wouldn't use a prybar, my thinned out AMS is the best I got for a high dollar nice slicer. I felt like a dirty whore, I cleaned them with a Mora fillet knife and a Vic 6" knife.
