strong spydercos

I've used many of my Spydies hard - some for 20+ years - and I've never had a failure or even a loss of confidence in the knives. One of the things the first generation Delica/Endura taught me is that the strength and weight of a knife are not necessarily directly related. Generally, I prefer lightweight folders. If I need something more sturdy, I'll reach for a fixed blade (or an axe, shovel, pry-bar, screwdriver, etc)...

Gayle Bradley for sure. I have had a lot of Spydercos and before buying the Gayle Bradley the Chinook had my vote for the best “tank-like” Spyderco. I like the Miltiary as well but the tip was a little thin for my liking (never broke one but always worried about hitting hard material and chipping it, but that hasn’t happened). The Bradley is a very confidence inspiring design though. Heavy liners and the lockup is solid and tight. The blade has the right shape for just about any type of cutting and the size/length/thinness/width is just the right size for EDC in the city or the woods. The last few days I have been carrying it in my pocket without using the clip and it’s just as comfortable in my skinny jeans as it is if I have it clipped on. It’s such a well made folder and the steel is amazing. I have used it for some food prep and only clean it with some mild dish soap, wash it clean and dry it well. Other than some darkening (patina) it’s pretty easy to keep clean. I live in Vancouver and am 2 blocks from the beach (salt water) and it’s humid here and rains just about every other day. I haven’t had an issue with the steel at all as far as rust and carry it daily. Just keep it clean and dry and you’ll be all set.

Here are some pics of the blade after use to cut some strawberries and steaks and just being cleaned with water and then dried. No rust, just patina forming.

I just played with the sage1 today... IM GETTING THAT KNIFE! its glass smooth and lock is awesome the ergonomics :D theres nothing bad about the nkife

Depends on the size youre looking for. In a frame lock, you have the sage 2 all the way up to a lion spy. If you want a great lockback style knife, any of the Chinook series are tough as nails. I've had the Chinook one for years and it's one of my favorite (and strongest) folders, seen here:

I mean solid lock up mostly. no left or right or vertical play. and solid handle feel also. What would you say mr. sal?

this is the plastic button I'm talking about. it simply cracked in half and the little parts fell out, leaving the blade flopping around. I know it's a slash tool but "what if" hit a buckle or hard bone or who knows what. just totally underwhelmed they would even put this part in there. I don't know how it broke to begin with, for all I know TSA or ground crew could've thrown it against the wall. ifso hopefully they cut themselves. oh well, over it, it's now a letter opener.
