Strongest folder?

Having had all of the above, I'd say none of the above. The only folder I've seen that could do it is an Extrema Ratio Fulcrum. Doesn't cut though any material real well, but man, is it overbuilt and made for prying.

And if the fulcrum doesn't cut it, the MPC will. The MPC is tough to sharpen and keep sharp, but it is a tank - a fulcrum on steroids.

While digging up old 4"x4" wooden posts I used my Emerson CQC 7 to cut tree roots, loosen dirt, pry rocks, etc.
It held up great, just needed a little touch up on the blade.

TOUGH folders.

Yes i know, knives are mean to cut, only....but in case somebody needs to open his way through an broken elevator door or is trapped inside a fallen cabin in the woods...wich folder would make it through? Strider? AlMar SERE? Sebenza? ZT? Emerson?

How about a Cold Steel Rajah II.?

I would go old school with a Buck 110. AT least if it breaks the damage won't break my wallet...

I'll second the 110 and toss in a Strider/Buck 880SP, one mother of a folder.

I've owned all of these except for Al Mar. Of the ones I've owned and handled, the ZT was without a doubt the strongest. I had a ZT 0300 that was as close to fixed blade strength as you'll find. Only problem is, the blade is very thick, and for me it wasn't ideal for slicing. It was heavy, but that didn't bother me, it rode nicely in my front right pocket. I plan to pick up another sometime down the road.

What about something like this:

Whoops, sorry. you said folder. Sorry.

Extrema Ratio MPC and Fulcrum II folders.

:) built like tanks, super heavy and strong, with or without serrations, tanto blades available

How about a Benchmade 610 Rukus.:D:confused:

Pivot is too weak.

Striders are a pretty beefy knife, but if I was trapped in the elevator I would just reach for the cigarettes and lighter + a cell phone = WIN. I don't think any folder is getting you out of an elevator.

Most people won't carry the big knives that might work for jobs like that. Even emergency service people carry smaller knives, for cutting, and rely on real prybars for heavy work.

I don't know that a massive pivot pin is what's needed for strength, as much as a large area of the tang inside the bolster. That gives the extended blade a stronger base to lever from.

Which is why an SMF (I own one and love it) won''t do well prying: the G-10 side will break.
I own two folders that I'd have some confidence in, those are the ZT 0300 and the ER RAO.
I wouldn't try my Sebenza, the blade is too thin. I'd trust my XM-18 but it hasn't arrived yet. :D :p
Another one I'm still waiting for is the Lionsteel SR-1. That should be as close to indestructible as a folder can get. I'd hate to abuse it but it could take it.
