All my strops walked off again so this time I made a super big gulp size. Now I just need to make another field one. I like using oak, it makes for a very effective thumpin stick as well :D

That would be a very painful thump. Followed by a glimpse of some glittery compound as you fall to the ground....:thumbup:
 
Really nice.... you can strop both your machaxes at the same time.... as fast as those guys at the Japanese steak house....
 
So are you going to load it up or just strop on naked leather?
Pretty cool set up, but I think it needs a skull stamp.:D:p

I've never used a strop this large.. perhaps it is time to put in another order for dead cow hide.

What kind of leather do you recommend for a strop? I haven't had much luck with what's available in the local fabric store.... **rolls eyes**
 
Ran out of green compound but loaded one side up with white. Just for fun I knocked the factory edge of the Candiru with diamond stones then stropped it for a bit. Now it shaves hair. With the RBK and BK-6, now I don't have to make several passes to get the whole blade. Getting old and lazy I guess. This one is 2-1/4" X 20 for the strop area

No skull stamps that takes up valuable stropping space, I might run out of room. :D

As far as leather, I only use the best and I order mine straight from the tannery, I get #1 quality hides with sanded backs. The stuff you get from tandy and what not is.... ok at best. The backs are usually too fleshy and/or raggedy to make any decent strops out of.

I suppose if there was interest I could make a BH group buy run of Stropasaurus'. Might even be persuaded to stamp your BH# on it.
 
I just had a flashback involving me, my best friend Salvatore and Sister Francis...I thought I blocked it out but after seeing the size of that paddle..I mean strop, it all came back after 35 years :eek: Oh yeah..very nice strop lol !

I need one, and started laughing at the thought of burning up a whole stick of geen compound on one:eek:
 
dude, your arms must be REALLY long.
Do you clamp it down? hang it on a wall?
