Strops

^^^

Yeah, agreed, if you go premade, just go with a KnivesPlus Strop Block, or one of Sharpening Supplies’ offerings. The quality is there. Made by knife guys for knife guys

Well.....I ordered a strop off of Amazon as well as PA70 honing compound.

I received all of it yesterday. I applied the mineral oil to the leather and then the honing compound. I stropped all of my knives and WOW. The results are staggering. The knives are a whole new level of sharp. I used my strops with my Wicked Edge but they never performed like the standalone strop does.

Overall, the strop is a very useful tool for any knife owner. Thank you for all of your input.

I just picked up a double sided bench/ hand strop 8×2 from sharpening supplies.

I like to hold the block so the paddle handle did not interest me.

Using the 1 micron on the smooth side and the bare suede to just clean things up in the end.

So I will have a give away this week for my old strop. It was actually a repurposed strop man paddle. Also has one side smooth and one side suede.
I've had much better luck with diamond paste on smooth leather than I ever did with suede and rouge.
