stubborn, pretentious, true to oneself, or???

Looks like I'm going to have to have a chat with my secretary about her record keeping skills!!! :o :grumpy: :o :D

I thought Coop's knife was the most long overdue of the bunch... maybe I got some things mixed up.

Kevin, I didn't know what that meant so I looked it up. I guess that means Peter and Stephen will have been blessed and brought greater wealth once their wait is over, right? ;) :)

Oh Lord, hear our prayer.

Nick I told you to fire that stupid bimbo six years ago!

WOW! Post 1911. This must be a good sign from Colonel Cooper in Heaven.

Yep, that's right. ;) Good things come to those who wait. :)

I prefer Lorien's blade but Nick's handle. The blade with a reverse taper and the weight taken off the spine. I don't care for a dropped edge either, especially a 90 degree one, but since the design is a chopper it should be no big deal. The handle needs a bit of flare at the butt to help with the proportions, imo.

In the end I think it's the collector that should compromise since the maker already has his techniques and ways of doing things. He should already be familiar with the maker's style so should be happy with his interpretation.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one made, and Coop's after that... :D

If I ever get another Nick Wheeler knife, it'll have to be a Nick Wheeler knife. :)

Not gonna order one from the maker though - don't think I can handle the drama!

Kidding. Love ya Nick.

One thing I can say about Nick's work is that if someone offered to sell me one of his knives, I'd be perfectly comfortable buying it sight unseen. Not many makers I can say that about. And that's about the best way I know how to respond to this thread. :)

Peter's cutting in line. Again. That secretary was correct, give her a raise.

Guys, I actually saw the archetype of my knife a couple of years ago at Blade. he was *almost* finished. One thing I remember was the amount of requests he had to purchase it when finished to others he showed it to. :D

I've since seen it closer to finished. Then it disappeared for a year. :p

For cryin' out loud, whatever you do Nick, don't crank the handle in the vise for some final buffing. ;)

Time for your meds Nick. Then it's bedtime. Long day tomorrow boxing it up. :foot:

Oh snap! I remember that blade! Man that was sick. Can't wait to see it finished.

and all this brings up another damn good point- like, uh, whatever!

It's going to be a Nick Wheeler knife. Nobody else can make one. All I can do is scribble some lines or pixels or whatever, in the end it's all you, buddy.

Stubborn? Not inordinately.
Pretentious? Hardly.
True to oneself? Yes.
Or? Definitely:D:thumbup:

Nick's interpretation looks to be a curvier version of the camp knife he made me awhile back, which is a good thing. :)

Re the message itself,
If you rewrite it a bit,
-to address the customers needs "you not I"
-less apologetic and just more direct statement and explanation
-leave the story of the other guys knife out of it
then keep it as a canned response to what may be a recurring scenario.

The original plywood design screams bussee to me and not Nicky
of course you have to make changes to suit your style

I like loriens blade shape, more belly sweep, less width towards the guard and no dropped edge on this one.

I would change loriens top line to bring the guard down level with the spine
