Your explanation of why you brought race into this still confuses me...
Are you saying that it is his race that caused him to hide the knife in his shoe and lie about it, or are you saying that is it the fact that he may have been from an "inner city neighborhood" that caused him to act this way? (That would be more of a "social" or "income level" argument...) You can not expect anyone to believe that those two things are mutually exclusive: There are many people who come from "inner city neighborhoods" who are not black, do not carry knives it their shoes and do not lie. There are also many families (of all races) from those same neighborhoods who teach their children to trust and respect the police.
"Inner city neighborhood" does not equal "Black", "outlaw" or "punk, and "Black" does not equal distrust, underprivileged (this kid seems to be going to a good school) or an excuse to break the law...
Like I said before; IMHO, your points (which I wholehearted agreed with) were much more valid before you dragged race into it.
