Hoping for a quick heal.

Just pics of the nurse please.

Not exactly a smooth move on your part, despite the severity of your injury it sounds like you got pretty lucky!

It could have turned out pretty bad if it went the other way around (huge gash in the abdoman and light cut to the hand!!!)

Hope your recovery goes smoothly!

The mental image I got while reading your story was too much.

Hope it heals quickly and without drama.

Please use a vice next time :)

Woah! Careful Man! Hope you heal up soon. I had a similar run in with the drill press not too long ago.

Using a drill press to drill metal without clamps is the 2nd most accident prone thing to do in the shop other than using the buffer.

Yeeowtch!

The part about your abdomen sent shivers down my spine. Too close for comfort. Get well soon.

me too. I had one mishap at a factory. 6 guys on pry bars to move a hydrolic press a few inches into position. Everyone else lets go, while I am in a bad position (did not say everyone ready, or one two three or anything). so the sharp end pointy end of my pry bar comes at my nuts with a couple tons behind it. I got the jewels out of the way in the nick of time, but took the sharp end in the guts and it lifted me off the ground........took a second to get to a private place and check the pits and pieces out under the overalls. no deep puncture, just a long patch of missing belly skin, shallow, thank goodness.) There is something about the nature of that area that makes my cringe when I think about sharp objects.

I can't count the times I've had large blocks of metal come loose from the old/beat up drill press vices when I was working in tool & die, usually while clearing the chips - the block would come right out of the vice and start spinning while attached to the drill bit!

Some very heart-rate inducing moments to be sure! You really gotta keep a clear head and be saftey oriented when dealing with power tools / heavy machinery!

Damn Jim,

hate to hear it...been cringing while reading.....smaoke and prayers for speedy recovery!

but ,dont forget to post the Hottie!

Damn!! Sorry to hear this! Take care and be careful!

But I've found that alcohol in the bloodstream keeps the wound clean.;)

This incident ... way too close for comfort.

Here's hoping you heal well and quickly, and that nothing like this ever happens again. :(

Damn that's never cool when the blade cuts you. I feel your pain, brutha.

Justabuyer, in the coming days as your aching hand gets you down, just realize that your gonads are intact.

And then have another Scotch.

Hear, here................. or somewhere.
Damn, I'm running out of Vodka.:grumpy:

Wow, 50 stiches

Glad your prognosis is good though and that you won't loose any motion. Makes my 6 stitches from trying to catch a falling Busse look like nothing.

Take it easy for awhile.

Hope you heal fast:thumbup: Thank goodness you didn't get the abdomen deep, man that could have been VERY bad.

Yeah we want pics of the Nurse and the wound:thumbup:

Oh bro, that sounds terrible, I'm so sorry to hear about this --- but very glad you're going to be okay...

Thanks for posting this though, maybe we'll all remember it when we're in a hurry in front of the drill press... :(

saw it at a friends race car shop "let me just drilling a quick hole through this bracket...." then came the blood and hospital trip
Sorry to hear 'bout your injury my friend lost some use of his thumb so it truly can be worse hope you heal up well

That kind of thing is exactly why the first thing I do when I'm going to modify a knife is dull the edge good, I wait until I'm all done with the Mod and then I re-sharpen it. Take care and heal fast!
