So this is about our interaction with buyers we all have some ;-) I'm buyer myself and I'm sure I had my moments ;-). I mainly sell on ebay and those are some Stupid questions I have received.
Please feel free and post yours !

1.I was selling O Katana from CS clearly stated O katana
"Which of the models is this? I might buy a couple if the price is right."
"YOU STILL DIDN'T TELL ME WHAT MODELIT IS."
"Is this a display katana or is it the warrior O katana?"

2.The same O Katana different guy (Ebay has a category knives, swords etc. as one lol)
"is this a knife or a sword? Your description calls it a knife but the dimensions make it a sword. Please call me if its a sword. I'm interested if it a sword."

3.The same O Katana dif Guy
"Is it possible to dissemble the sword to reduce total lenght? Is it 49" overall?" (lol just lol)

I will add some more :) I guess I'm not selling Katana's anymore :D

"What's the birthdate of the CRK?" or just "birthdate?"

Meanwhile there's a gigantic picture of the birthcard with all info legible from a mile away.

Sometimes I think people just see CRK for sale and by habit just type that question without even reading the thread.

Another gem, FS Strider with new lock up, etc

"Does it have old lock up or new lock up?"

Used (fill in the blank) priced accordingly at $100 less than retail:

"Has it been sharpened?"

Man:D

The only stupid question is the one I didn't ask. If you are offended by redundant questions that's your fault, people want to be 100% sure of what they are buying from a total stranger on the internet.

Now, I have seen some pretty stupid sales threads as well.
"Mint condition bnib" only carried a few times and cut paper.

Factory edge, never sharpened just stropped.

And my personal favorite; shows price at beginning of thread, and at the end of thread, "I only accept paypal add 4% for fees"

Big difference between "redundancy" and someone not even taking the time to read details on a knife they are "interested" in before posting.

If you can't skim through one paragraph to see if your questions have already been addressed, then I'm sorry, that's your fault;)

I guess the overriding question I have is why do you care? I mean, if the questions bother you that much why not just ignore them..?

Or if someone wants to use a public online forum to vent frustrations that sometimes come from selling high end knives why do you care? Why not let someone blow off harmless, lighthearted steam?

......

I have to ask that one now, because most of the time I can't see pics on this damn Hajji-net.

Considering the amount of crap pictures, poor descriptions, and use of stock or borrowed photos by eBay sellers, I can't blame anyone for asking a few stupid questions from time to time. ;)

Heck, the stupider the question, the less work it takes for me to answer. Bring on the stupid questions! :D

If I am spending high dollars on anything, I am going to ask as many questions as I want.
Sometimes I ask questions to have traceability from my own emails.
I have seen sellers delete all information from a thread before they lock it, so if I get a knife and there is a problem, I have no recourse.
I have also seen sellers make mistakes in their listings, and if someone didn't ask for clarification, someone would have bought something they didn't want.
Personally, I would not be willing to buy anything from anyone who wasn't willing to answer a few of my stupid questions.
The good news is that sellers are under no obligation to sell to folks who ask stupid questions so it all evens out.

I'm sure I'm guilty of asking a dopey question or two but like others have pointed out with some of the ad's you see you have no choice.

Thing's like, slightly used see pic's for condition and the pictures are so blurry, taken too far away, or the lighting is so poor you can't see any of the details of the knife.

I saw a knife recently here in the exchange that the seller claimed was LNIB. I saw what I thought were spots on the blade and when I downloaded the pic's so I could enlarged them I could clearly see rust spots on the blade. When I asked him about it he said, "oh, that's just a little patina, that's normal for that blade" Say what? that's LNIB?

Then there's the NIB or LNIB only carried a few times only cut up a few boxes while the knife is sticking in a tree or something. For me, after I take a knife out of the box and open and close it a few times or oil the blade for storage, that just became LNIB. If I carry it at all that's used.

Since we all seem to have our own standards and definitions you really do have to ask what might be considered an obvious question or two from time to time.

Buyer's can be bad I'm sure but some sellers have a long way to go too, and shouldn't be surprised when they get questions they "think" they already covered in their ad.

My all time favorite is when I see a hate thread about a knife and the OP saying what a POS it is and all the thing's wrong with it and a month or two later the same person is selling it saying what a great knife it is and no mention of any of the flaws he went out of his way to complain about?

For some reason I'm having difficulty posting with quotes?

Anyway, Lone Wolfe, be safe over there!

cncpro, you make points I hadn't considered and they make perfect sense. Nothing wrong with playing it safe with your hard earned money:thumbup:

I guess u should just ignore this thread !

I know play safe with your money but :) Why would u ask if u can make sword shorter ?(yea u can cut it in half I guess) Where is the safety there ?:) That is just plain stupid. It's like asking Can u make mini cooper from Toyota Corolla? Or does that car come with driver? those kind of questions I'm talking about ;)

Some things to keep in mind.
Not all pictures show up on every device. Some photos posted do not show up with an iPad or iPhone. That is more than likely why the questions about photos come up.
I've found some descriptions in sales ads pathetic and nondescript. There are ways to make an ad stick out, but posting giant billboard sized fonts in the fruity colors of the rainbow isn't a good way. You don't need to include every specification, and I find it more annoying when a person is too friggin lazy to look up the specs for themselves. Come on, look it up yourself if that doubtful 1/16' blade length is going to be a bother. The best defense is to write your description as clearly and accurately as possible,

I was at a Gun and Knife show and I was looking at a Blur on the table. My buddy tapped me on the shoulder to ask me what Kershaw knife I was looking at and the girl behind the counter said, "Oh, that knife is a Kershaw." Wow. Really.

Well I did sell that katana in the end lol BUT ... I send the package and the third day that it was delivered I asked the Buyer if he can leave me a feedback !? And this is what he said :
I never looked at it. I just relabeled the package and sent it to cold steel to be sharpened. As soon as I get back from cold steel I will leave feedback. New sword I send to him !!!:D I mean are people retarded nowadays?????? Now not only the sword didn't need resharpening but how I'm I being hold responsible for the sword now ? I mean anything can happen with it and He will blame me for it! This is unbelievable ! I'm pissed !

If you have to ask? Then yes, yes they are. Some people have no idea what to do with common sense. It's easier to just be inconsiderate and not think at all. I'm glad not to do business with people that choose to operate that way. Wile we are on the topic, how is it you are being held responsible for the sword?

I love posting something for sale with a description, information about the condition of the item, a dozen or so pictures, the price and a message stating that the price includes shipping to the lower 48 and that I will ignore lowball offers. Then I get some email like "WILL YOU DO $40 SHIPPED?!?!? ONLY GONNA OFFER THIS ONCE!" for the $100 item.

Then there are the people that no matter how many pictures you take, they email you and ask for more. That pisses me off almost as much as all of these lowballers trying to hustle people (you know who you are!)
