Stupid Yank Bastards

Four days, no butts... where's that "grit yer teeth" icon!

Right about now, someone looked crosseyed at us Nanc and I would get in a knife fight to see who got to choke 'em first! :D :D

Sincerely, it's not as terrible as I expected, but it ain't easy. I'll be better when the physical withdrawl starts to ease off a bit.

Hey Fitz,

Misery loves company. Hang in there. You and I can route for each other. I haven't had a cig since day after Christmas! I am on the last part of day 10.

Anybody got a smoke they can spare. JUST KIDDING.

I just started smoking again a couples weeks ago after quitting for a year and a half. I got drunk one night (only did twice last year) and smoked a cig and thought this is yucky. Then the next day I started bumming smokes. Smoked for a week then quit for 5 days then found my dog Adrian dead and started again that night at pool league. It sucks but I know one d@mn thing, I am no way near as much of an ahole as I have been the last year and a half. That is no excuse but man I could jump someones a$$ at the drop of a dime for nothing. Especially looking for parking spots at wally world.

We'll get it if we hang tough, Roger! Bowie gave me the best perspective when he told me that what kept him going day after day was he didn't want to waste all that misery he'd already gone through as the days added up. Sage advice, I think.

Stick with it, Roger!! I'm counting how many cartons of cigarets unsmoked add up to just what tool, and how long. Tools good!! :D

Yeah, the extra money will be pretty noticeable. Enjoy! More good vibes headed your way. Congratulations Roger! You deserve major kudos for your landmark too. You guys inspire me. I tried "just one" after five years and look at me know; hacking up my lungs every morning. Stupid.

After the big tobacoo pounding in courts and the price was doubling and more I began making my own cigs. I did that for probably about 7 years. It started out I was getting almost three cartoons worth for about 15 bucks. The price kept going up until now I think it is about 22 or 23 bucks for almost 3 cartoons worth. I don't even know what a pack of name brand cigs are now but do know it is high-high.

I smoked for 15 years, and when I was still in the USAF - in Germany - I was buying Marlboros for $3.25 per CARTON. Yes, you read it right... per CARTON!

When I finally left the Force and came back to the States, the shock of spending $15 for a carton was too much. That's when I figured it would be a great time to quit. Since then, all I've inhaled is grinding dust and campfire smoke. ;)

Kudos to you guys trying to quit. Kicks to the head to all you guys still smoking! :D

when I was in the navy buying sea stores, they were $2.50 a carton :D
I quite almost 24 years ago you guys that quite for more then a couple weeks and go back are,, forgive me Dumb a$$'s :footinmou

you know that's the hardest time for you but it seems hard the whole time, the urge gets father apart but seams to be the same in severity but you know it isn't really ,, kicking the urge when you smell someone smoking is the hard part, I can tell you how to kick that part if you are a die hard smoker and really want to quite..this is how I know it works well
I can have a drink and a smoke and not crave another I could have a cig right now and it probably would more offend me than taste good.
I found the answer many years ago after trying many times to quite :) you don't need that nikerest ? crapp stuff.

That's funny Rodger. I started smoking in Military School at the tender age of 12.
I bought Bugler tobacco for $0.06 a pouch I think. It came with two packs of papers. Now the cost of rolling tobacco is so high, it's actually cheaper to buy Cherokee Cigarettes. Or as I so fondly call them "Ready Rolls".

I started smoking full time when I joined the Army in '64. At the Px they were $2.10 a carton then. By the time I guit in '83 they were up to around $9.00. I guess they are way above that now. That is pretty steep for a lethal drug that doesn't even make you high...

Seriously guys the one thing that will make you succeed is to really be on guard against rewarding yourself with "just one, because I have been so good". It will get you every time. I know because the same thing happened to me at least 10 times before I got it.

Yeah, I used a hand crank machine. They sell the filtered tubes for them and then a 1 pound bag of tobacco and your smoking in no time. I never could roll those things. I wouldn't make a very good pot head. I'd have it spilled all over the place.

I am trying to quit too. I tried the cold turkey thing, and found I go back to it, and smoke twice as much for a while till I get built back up again.

This time I am using the patches, and limiting what I can smoke in a day. i will be quit by the weekend, and have told the girlfriend that it is either the smokes or me. She is doing better than I am at it, so this must be an omen of sorts.

This is good to hear, I don't smoke, but I am trying to quit dipping. It's a nasty habit and at 4 bucks a can expensive too! I'll go for days without a pinch then back at them, back to cold turky and so forth. :grumpy: If I could ever get over the hump I believe I could make it, eighther that or lock my self in a cell for a month or so with no snuff and scream till I get over it! :o

interesting Will, that's how I gave up smoking, by dipping
schol <spelling
once I swapped the habit I quite the chew, btw it's harder to quite chewing
in a way, but easier to stay away from then smoking is.

I never get a hankering for cigs but if I smell schol
not to many around here chew it any more so I'm safe most the time.. :D

Wonder what they do to trolls
The Hanover Sheriff's Department hires them :footinmou :footinmou :footinmou

They are used as Supervisors for the STUPID Deputies. Their training manual is called : The Idiot and the Odyssey!

I quit last May after 25 years on and off, mostly on. I went with Zyban and the patch for a bit and I was done. I still want one occasionally but it gets less and less often and I feel MUCH better physically. It's worth the effort.

I found the habit to be much harder to give up than the nicotine. When you smoke a lot, you use it in all kinds of situations like stopping talking to light up while thinking of what to say next, or to have something in your hand to balance out the beer in the other and on and on...

I had urges pretty regular for a couple of years and then infrequently for a few more. I haven't had one for 10 or 15 years now. I do think I am still addicted and if I ever took the first one, I would be back at it.

That one looks like the brother of the one that starred in the "Possum Drop" on New Years Eve in Brasstown, NC ---Sandy---
