Very nice Lin, I really like that one. Mine will be up in a couple of days. Exceptional knife.

Beautiful work Lin, I can see why you are pleased with the way it turned out. I hope it doesn't get away before I get to see it in Little Rock.

Lorien,
The ABS teaches methods that somewhat recognizable look. I might be speaking out of turn when I say ABS style, but that's the way I see it. It's a flatgound forged blade made on the pattern of a Fighter/Bowie with the addition of a subhilt. This in no way deminishes my appreciation of loveless style knives though. Let's call it an interpretation. Lin

Aha! I see what you mean, thanks for the explanation:)
Looks like you got Les' blood up:thumbup::cool:

Gday Lin,
Very very clean looking and subtle contrast. What finish is on the 416 fittings??

Cheers Bruce

Thanks:).

Bruce, I finished the insides of the guards with Scotchbrite and then went to 1000 on the outsides of the fittings and wood. I went to 1000 on the blade then used rottenstone on a makeup pad supported by a leather padded backing board. The oxides that remain just seem to make the blade look older even though it's smooth as glass. Lin

This is why I like your sub hilt, Lin. You've captured elements of "ABS style" as you call it and blended them with other non-ABS elements. Many SH's that ABS guys make look like the bowie/fighters with an extra piece spliced in for the sub hilt. (Nothing wrong with that of course.) Yours has a more rounded handle and fittings which I prefer. It's a good looking knife.

Obviously Les likes it!

I'm really likin' the handle shape, and contrasting textures.

However, if I may add, there's one thing bugging me. The blade profile seems to start tapering right away, with that long clip, like all lines are leading to the tip. But once my eyes reach the point, it looks abrupt and somewhat blunt. I'm sure you have your reasons for this, and everyone else seems to like it, but for any blade that may be used for thrusting, I'd prefer a good 'n' pointy tip.

But now that I got that off my chest, on the whole I like it. :)

Possum,
I appreciate your advice. I may make an adjustment on the next one. Thanks, Lin

Tell me what you think.

I've been meaning to comment on this subhilt ever since you posted it. Man, it is about everything I look for in a subhilt, and more. It exudes power and control like crazy and is dynamite looking, you've really gotta be proud of this one!
