Suggest a bushcraft knife for me

Why not just get a mora? Geat bushcraft knife for light to moderate tasks, I'm not affraid to baton mine because it feels super solid. Or for your budget you could do a cheaper fixed blade (the schf51 looks really good for $30) and also get a swiss army huntsman 2.
This combo would do like everything you'd ever need out in the woods. The SAK would fit nicely in a pocket and offer both a finer blade, scissors which are supprisingly useful, and an absolutely vicious saw that will cut through branches and trees less than 3 inches thick in no time. Then the Schrade would be a great heavy chopper and splitting knife for hard use. Also, two knives offers the security that if you break or lose one you have a second.

A Mora Companion HD ... in fact, get two of them as they peform bush crafty type stuff just fine.
If your budget can do it - grab a Becker BK16 (Ethan's favorite) or BK 15 (my favorite Tweener) or a BK17.

How about this one?

$55 Real Steel Bushcraft II - 4+" Blade with scandi grind, 3.5mm 0.138" thick D2 steel, G10 Handles with red liners, Kydex Sheath

Hey, I'm interested in getting a kife with largish fixed blade 4 or more inches. I'd like significant durability, and that's more or less my only want. I'm in Canada, and looking to spend about 50$. Thanks for the help.

$50 Canadian or $50 USD? You won't get much knife for either.

I really hope you take my suggestion. I had this same exact question. Get the Mora High Q Robust. NOT the Mora Pro Robust. The handle on the High Q Robust is much more comfortable. The knife is only $16 shipped to your door in US. I cannot imagine it would be much more there. I have done every camp chore with this knife and it does exceptionally well and holds an edge. It's carbon steel. Trust me and get it... It's a perfect knife. You'll want a bunch. They are so cheap. I literally treat mine like garbage like stabbing it into fallen logs, the ground, shaving bark off large cuts of firewood, etc. It's perfect.. Just get one and see for yourself how strong they are and remind yourself how little it costs.

One of these:

Or in Carbon steel. They also do an even larger one. With or without leather sheath, postage is very reasonable. I'm pretty sure they will be back in stock again shortly. Made in Finland so similar latitude to Canada. Y tube vids are very positive. Steel is an excellent choice. Far better than any Mora.

I have the Skrama from the same place; fantastic tool. The whole range is for professional work, so nothing fancy, just practical. Its what I would buy on your budget.

Condor would have what you want.

PM me if you want. I have a lot of knives I don't use anymore and I'm in Canada so I can save you on shipping as well.

As stated by others: Mora HD Companion, and folding saw.
Also, consider a smaller machete instead of the saw (Cold Steel makes several). If $ left... goto flea market and find a good used hatchet/axe. You can use the axe/hatchet/machete for rougher work, and save the edge of the Mora for woodcraft.

Buy the tools; as for the knowledge, you can get tons of info online, or get books from the library. For example:

and download.

Baryonyx knives has an offer for their new Condor Swamp Romper, 1075 steel, flat grind, $57 including their special grade offer (refined and thinned edge). I think that is a great deal !!

Maybe a bit big, but the best you'll get for the price; Fällkniven A1

That is one I am adding to my "to buy" list. I prefer the general purpose blade style for woods activities. Very affordable.

Condor Mini Matagi. Bushcraft Perfection. Forget the highly over rated scandi grind. And even above and beyond it's near indestructible construction, it offers more utility than any other "bushcraft" knife on the planet-unless you can show me another knife like it (the Cold Steel Mini Bushman is no longer in production) that you can easily push onto the end of a stick, and cut high up fruit out of a tree.

Cold Steel true flight thrower. 1095 carbon steel done right for $20. Cant beat it for the price. A bush knife to beat the hell out of.
